How many oz's do you get per gal?

I like to use the 1 oz per gallon rule... but in reality how many oz's is possible in one gallon of soil?..IE whats the most you ever got out of a 1 gal pot?

i thought root ball size to plant size was relative..... are you saying the plant could be much larger than the root ball.. i guess just denser?

1 oz per gallon rule is a good rule but yer the root mass would be denser with larger plants in a small pots
if the root mass gets to dence it can cause root bound and affect the plants heath so you have to be carefull

As a general rule, plant size and root-ball size are related to each other. With that being said - it is also true that a plant won't waste energy growing a root-ball any bigger then it has to.

In other words, a hungry, thirsty plant will grow a bigger root-ball - while a well fed, well watered plant will grow a somewhat smaller root-ball. That's the way I understand it. Perhaps someone would care to chime in with a technical explaination.

Simple .....the more SPACE a plant can EVOLVE in below the more energy it can put into the power plant above........yes.....

And DWC is a great example of this. Huge plant, small root zone.

You can also run small pots when you use coco. I just harvested a 6 ounce plants in a 2 gallon pot of coco. Fed 6 times per light cycle on a drip system.

To me this is almost like guessing yeild for somebody there's so many variables ......and right when I think I'm getting this kinda thing figured out il see one of these crazy solo cup plants yielding impressively ......I think this another case of genetics myself but like I said I have no idea I've seen some serious freaks of nature that were very impressive compared to root mass
