depends on indica or sativa or a combo of both. check this out give you an idea. This almost there 005.jpg is an indica juuuust before harvest. notice the fans with the done crispy look. This tres' april may 15 023.jpg is 50/50 mix at about 5 weeks and this tres' april may 15 029.jpg is a Sativa be it a small one. Had to top due to vertical restrictions. but you can do this to an indica to increase yield. tres' april may 15 018.jpg. Good luck with your choice. Question is Couple big Sativas or several small Indica's......not a bad question to have to ponder really ???? LOL

Thinking in terms of efficiency, you should look at the lights "footprint". The lumen output would be greatly diminished for plants on the perimeter because it would need to be raised to a point where there is adequate spread. It's a waste of energy for those perimeter plants that will yield smaller buds. You could lower the light and increase the lumen output by focusing the footprint on fewer plants...and gaining larger buds.
He's going to think you don't have a clue as to what you're talking about when you say that even though you're right. Well actually it could be well over 100 if you do it like this: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=88449&page=1&pp=15
One is more obvious, I don't need to give a link for that.
Anyway if the number of plants doesn't scare you in terms of potential federal prison time going over 99 plants, you should try a grow like that link I gave over a small number of larger plants because nothing beats a well set up SOG like that. In terms of max yield under a 400 light it will be many times again the yield of other options even when you compensate for different veg times.
