how many plants in a 5gal bucket

im thinking of growing in a aeroponic system. depending on how many plants in each 5 gallon bucket. I want a perpetual grow so i can harvest about every two weeks (2-4 plants a harvest). ive never done hydro so im not sure how much room the roots need.

not that there is a clear answer but...... 3

was going for 14 to 16 inchs

will you be using clones? I feel this could easily be done with a healthy mother. I'm actually planning on doing a perpetual harvest in a similar fashion, but if you're using 5 gal buckets, any problems that come up in the root system of one plant in a bucket could potentially harm the other plants. (fungus gnats etc.)

what were you planning on doing with the 5 gal buckets as far as hydro goes? just plain and simple dwc? if so maybe going the soil-less mix would be easier to manage with a perpetual harvest every two weeks. that'll be a lot of buckets that will need a lot of water on a continuous basis and a lot of upkeep with ph and whatnot throughout the stages of life if you're going to put an aero pump in each bucket spraying the roots. the roots form into a big mass in the bucket as well, which you might want to keep in mind with anything you put in as far as pumps, since the roots will grow around and into these pumps, which can be annoying and troublesome if thats your only means of aerating the water.

4 3" netpots fit very nicely into a 5 gallon bucket and are the perfect size if you're trying to finish with plants about 18-24" tall.

Flower them at 8" or 10".

Look in my journal for pics of the 3" netpots in the five gallon lids if you're interested - the spacing is pretty good, and that's what I would flower in if not for the >99 plant count that would give me (doing one per bucket instead).

The 5 gal bucket holds how much water? 3 gal? I think 1 gal per plant is a bare minimum, even for dwarf plants.

i was going to stack 2 5 gallon buckets
a large enough hole in the bottom ones lid to lower the top one about 7 in
they are 14 in tall
then have the res in the bottom one with a submerged pump pushing straight up to the sprayers figure might need two
i also saw a vid on utube
a guy had two 5 gallon buckets each for the plants
and a 3 gallon res sitting to the side
sorry i know my hydro language is very shitty but i dont know to much about it

now im thinking thats not gonna fit my closet right for 8 plants
so im wondering how to build a water proof plywood box
how many gallons will i need for each plant and how far away should the 3 1/2in net pots be?

Nah, 4+ gallons - the 3" netpots aren't very deep.

4+ gallons what?

4+ gallons is what a five gallon bucket will hold when the water level is reduced to take into account the depth of the 3" netpots.

you could try to do a perpetual harvest like you say, or you could grow some monsters. I am all about 1 plant per 1 gallon bucket with a bucket buddy net pot. Just keep topping that bitch till you get 4-8 main colas and then grow her big. You would probably end up getting the same amount or more than the perpetual grow with LESS effort.

my questions now are how far away do net pots need to be
i was thinking 3 1/2in should be big enough ones and i want 3 rows of 4 plants in the box
so i was thinking 15in by 20in would be big enough but im not sure
and then how much water do i need in the res for 12 plants
i need on for flower veg and im thinking ill just use a tote thing for the cloner
and a 5gal for the mothers but i might just build my whole unit
want to keep it stealthy like a cabinet hopefully it all goes well
just gotta work on the epoxied boxes

oh yeah and it seems like bubble systems are getting quite the rage now
what is it about those? which grow faster and i havent seen anything about how the plants get water to them. just havent looked into it i just thought they were like air stones in the bottom and that was it but i have no clue
