how many plants with 5x5 tent 2 hps 600w

7x7= 49ft2
1200w / 49 = 24.4watts/ft2
I didn't know a 600w hps was that effective, why use LEDS?
I thought 40-50 watts/ft2 was about right for a 600w hps.

I run open wing every 3.5 feet
I don’t grow in a tent but I used to run 3k in my room and by switching to 4 -600’s I dropped 600 watts
And saw zero change in buds or growth
By running open bulb it gives me some leeway

This thread reminds me of my first grow.
Eight autos in a 4'x4' with 2- 600w crammed in there. Live and learn...

For the OP, I'd run 4-5 plants max in your 5'x5'.

It's hard to look back at a 4ft2 room and compare it to a 5ft2 room.
4ft x 4ft = 16ft2
9 plants would have to grow 1.3ft wide

5ft x 5ft = 25ft2 its over 50% larger
4 plants in a 5ft2 need to grow 2.5ft wide
9 plants would have to grow 1.6ft wide.

I just talked to Budders. He said one plant in a 5x5.
