pay your bills on time and the electric company wont give a shit if you pull 20,000 watts.

Probably when you flip the switch and your neighborhood lights all flicker. That's probably a good indication you have one too many lights.

+1 for Drgreenz, except if Obama's Cap and Trade policy gets put into affect then ALL of our electricity consumption will be very closely monitored and since 1000 watt HPS lights use a lot of electricity that's gonna be throwing up some red flags. good luck, and also, my Saltwater Fish tank sucks up about 200 watts for a 40gallon tank so keep in mind other things use lots of juice too

how many watts do u have pull before u are watched
Think about it...and 8000btu window AC unit can pull anywhere from 150 (on low) to 600 (on high) So if you're really worried just fuckin throw a couple AC units in the windows and never use em...lol Some home entertainment systems use upward of 1000w. The biggest thing is items that run on timers... Try to have your lights running when you arent home and can shut off all other appliances in your house...then when you get home and the lights go out you're using the TV, computer, AC, Fans, PS3, Xbox, Stereo...u get the idea...and just pay your shit on time. Haha and dont vent near your meters just in case they come by to check their shit and smell venting MJ. Just pay your bills, taxes, insurance and such and be smart. Replace all ur bulbs in the house with low watt cfls. keep all other shit on energy saver mode...my computer uses 1/4 the power when I turn the energy saver on...good luck.

Central AC 2000-3500 watts. In-window (medium to large) AC, another 1000-1400 watts. Electric stove/ovens can peak around 4000-4500 watts. Electric water heater, another peak 3800 watts.

Don't worry unless you're pulling significantly more wattage than these.

If your being watched its not soley from your power use. Its just something they can look at further for evidence on what is inside.

odor and noise control are a must, along with plant matter and soil disposal are better things to be concerned about.

I've heard a good general rule is about one 1000w light per bedroom in your house. Don't go over this and you should be cool.

To be fair to Obama I think it's too early to judge. I gave Bush a lot of time before the real disillusionment started. Deep down I'm starting to worry about the direction he's taking this country.:? You think anyone could photoshop him with like the Stalin haircut and beard.:hump: I didn't vote for him though so I feel entitled to bitching. Who's comin with me to Canada?

Arent you? Pay better attention and you surely will be. Remember all those signs at his rallys? Did you read the fine print? It didnt say Change, it said your money will change hands from yours to ours.

Right now everyone should be at least thinking about moving to canada (Beautiful women, Beautiful Land and free medical plus alot more Mary Jane). But I am like hydro I will wait it out for a little while and see what Obama does. Lets hope he can do better than what he has started out though. Just my simple opinion

Interesting thread. I , as well, have also heard that 1000w/bedroom is a decent rule of thumb to go by. All I know is that almost all the busts in SW Ont. are Vietnamese growers who all steal the hydro. Do what you have to, but don't steal power. Pay your bills on time and find ways to cutback, but don't steal hydro.

well here is my 2 cents,..... #1 the top 4 electricity consumers in your house are the central air/heat ( if heat is elect) next is the water heater, next is the stove, and 4th, this may suprise you is any colour tv over 27 inches,. colour tv use elect 24 hours a day weather its on or not,.. i have everything in my ent center except the cable box on a plug strip and when im not watching tv i cut the power to all of it,.... next i have easy access to my el panel so i only turn on my water heater for an hour or so when i get home for work and then turn it off,.. it only takes 29 min to heat 40 gallons of water ,... once i get a couple good harvests, i will have the elect stove taken out and get gas and just have the propane co come out and deliver gas to a tank behind my kitchen for cash,.... you can also get one of those grey box timers for the water heater,.... but remember the colour tv is the fourth major item in your house that consumes power, get a plug strip!!! for the whole ent center,.... i leave my cable box pluged into the wall because if you cut power it erases the channel guid and takes about 45 min to reload all the programming
ultimatly when i rebuild my detached garage with a second floor ill have an 18x22 grow upstairs and ill get a genrac generator and run the whole thing off propane

dam it almost seem alot of people is taking this as a joke, and saying just pay your bill on time, just for the record paying your bill have nothing to do with you being red flags in dam near all cases. the way people are caught is rats who is not fed and decide to convert to chilling with pigs, and thats when there on to you because if they suspect you of cultivating they don't need a warrant to call your light company and get a consumption data sheet and see how much power your using. its people who have houses that was converted into grow mansions for years and never had there door knocked down, you have to think about if you live in a house with other people how much power there using and if you leave on your own and work, how the hell are you using 1000 watts for 18 hours or 12 hours when planning a grow with a 1000 watter just have a plan in place before you grow like put the a/c on for a few hours a day or leave some of your electronics on, and you do this like 2 months before you stop growing. i will be starting a thread in about 1 week on the secret to growing with 4000 watts without using any watts from your house for a few hundred bucks
