Sprinkle a tablespoon of dolomite lime across the top of the soil, then flush, washing the lime down into the soil. Stop, when the PH comes out at 7.0, if that's what PH you are pouring in. Skip the baking soda. :)

It's also a good idea to mix the lime into the uppermost layer of soil, before flushing.

I swear by lime. It almost makes my PH meter useless ;) but I still use it to verify :) I use a plastic fork and loosen up top of pot soil then I sprinkle in about 1 tsp for each gal of soil in pot. Everytime you water, your bringing up the PH and it will eventually settle in at 7.0, until the lime is depleted. I find this especially helpful with MG, which has lime in it, but seems to turn acidic within 4 weeks.

However if needed in future for emergency, add 1 tsp baking soda to room temp gal of water to raise about a half point of PH
