in using MG blood meal and bone meal. The directions say to use 1 tbsp. per square foot of garden. I'm mixing my soil in 5 gal. buckets which is about a square foot across, but the MG doesnt say anything about cubic ft. Since they suggest mixing the meal in the first 3 in. of soil and my bucket is 5x that deep, im guessing 5 tbsp. of each? Would that be close to right? 10 tbsp. of ferts juat doesnt seem like a lot for a 5 gal. of dirt.

It's much easier to add than take away good choice. Don't forget that they last for weeks and every time you water they get a blast.

if you are completely new to organics you are on the right path with the bone and blood meal. its best to use bone meal made from fish bone. some other things that you might want to add to your soil as well are bat and seabird guano, new jersey greensand, earthworm castings are a must. humic acids good. and look into using premium Mycorrhizae fungus. however if you do make sure your water is chlorine free otherwise your just wasting your money.

I use this every year outdoors in 5 gallons 1 coffee cup of blood meal and 2 coffee cups of bone meal. Plus other things. Good luck.

Yes, organics can definately still burn the plants. They are generally more forgiving, especially in their original time-release form. Once you turn fertilizers into instant-release teas, however, the potential for burning increases significantly. Not that teas are bad in any way. Some growers use only teas and no fertilizers in the soil. They will just have a narrower margin of error.

Yes be carefull
I planted a 8 foot pear tree at my house with my soiless and all the leaves curled up for about 2 months. Thought it would die. Now it's the best out of the two that I planted.
Tried acouple house plants and killed them the same day. So be careful and experment. Good luck

Use more than 1-2 tablespoons per gallon of soil if your growing outdoors. I can't see a couple tablespoons a gallon doing anything. I use blood meal, bone meal, greensand, kelp meal, peat moss, and perlite. Add lime to adjust p/h. Only problem that I had was the Blue Berry clone. It took over a week to get used to the soil. Never had any nute problems. Leaves stay green and healthy till the end. May thru oct. I don't use any liquid fertilizer. Don,t be afraid to experiment. Got this recipie from a book. Can't go wrong. Only time I had a nut. def. was due to p/h being to high. If you want the full recipie let me know.
