How much can you yield?

Yeah once you dial in your style of grow for your room and max out a strain and your not happy with overall weight its genetics. Im sure you could change style and maybe yield more per plant but would be less overall yield because of more veg time which would mean less harvests per year. I like tree style. bigger plants bigger tops, I have tops that equal some peoples plants and there way faster to trim.

i just want to get 3 thats it i will be happy with 3 no joke. i will be happy with that i have a 6x12x8 tent i was told to throw 3 1k lights and with all the lights and if my environment is good my nut is on point i can get 9 lbs
I have never got more than 2 lbs per light

It is possible and very hard. I would say plant count is the most import thing when trying to hit 2lb per light, when all variables are dialed in. Of course you can increase plant count by topping, and I recommend topping once a week until flowing, minimum of 1 month veg time.

The real question is, are you running co2? is your climate controlled? If not you may not hit the 3 pounds (I havent seen that hit without co2 and a perfect climate, but I do not rock co2, I am all organic, I harvest 3 plants under a 1000 watt hps every month yielding me 24-27 oz, could be much closer to two but I prefer the best smoke not the best yield so the strains I choose are not heavy yielding...I do not leave any leaves on the buds all completely trimmed away, and buds are extremely dry when weighed.

Shiiit I vegged for only a week out of the cloning machine my girls are tiny. I'm running an old analog 1k and my yield is going be terrible. Ahhh you live and you learn. My goal is to be pulling 3 plants a month

I pull 18+oz per one 600w hps. I have a strain that yeilds 4-6zips per plant, in soil, in 3 gal pots veg'd for 8-10 weeks, 6'+ tall when chopped.
thats my style of plant, 6ft+ plants are my favorite but in 5gallon under 1k's yielding 6-8oz per plant. What is the strain you speak of Demon?

2 ounces per 30" tall plant that takes up a diameter of of about 30" (under 400w) (4 plants per light)

trying 600w this time (unless the heat forces me down to 450 or 300)

Nice I just got my controller in the mail so I'm going to set all the set points and make sure i got the environment controlled and secure and set up the tent to make sure i don't have any leaks I'm growing in a tent so I'm sure they will have leaks, but keeping it to the minimum. Im gonna be running coco soilus and I'm gonna use 5 gallon pots 18-24 inch plants. just got a cut of some xj13 so I'm gonna see how the works out if not i will just cut it from the grow from what i hear some really good genetics, but i will let my people be the judge of that .

I do approximately 4-6 weeks in Veg, depending if I have room in the flower room. I consider "Veg" after I transplant into large pots and are getting 18hrs of daylight via MH.

I don't do any training, just put the light up as high as it goes and let them do what comes natural. I have been counseled to use tomato cages, which I will probably try at some point, but for now just a bamboo stick and a twist-tie when they get so beautifully top-heavy! Like I said, I'm a newb, so if it's working, it ain't broke and I ain't fixing nothing that ain't broke! IMO

15-24 inch plants you should go with 1/2 gallon containers. The 5 Gallon will grow closer to a 30 inch minimum and that is if you train it... of course you could grow shorter plants in it but they wouldnt be healthy.

Many coco growers treat coco like hydro and do a drain to waste and do automated drip feeding. They use smaller containers somewhere in the 6inch to 2 gallon range. I see many amend the coco with perlite and hydroton for this method.

I prefer to treat coco like soil and use larger containers and I will use Hydro nutes with Reverse osmosis water. Treating coco like soil dries the surface and keeps teh bugs away, Promotes root growth, Saves water and nutrients, and is much less time consuming. Disadvantage is that the fewer waterings make it more crucial that you give the plant the correct nutrients at each watering because flushing could cause overwatering symptoms.

The point where the soil is slightly dry and slightly moist is what eh plants want.. if you could achieve this throughout the medium constantly with many dripper systems full of super oxygenated water that would definitely be the way to go. Just make sure you have a good waterproof area is all i have to say.

With hydro you would have a 1-2 hour window of time after each watering where the plants would have an abundance of oxygen and the plants roots will be thriving. With soil you have a window about 1-2 hours after watering and then there is a period of time where the plant might be overwatered for a day or 2 and then the soil will be a good ratio of dry/wet for about 3 days and you could even let the plant stay completely dry for 1 day.... so you would water about once a week and have 4-5 days of good growth off of one watering, maybe 1-2 days of poor growth. Just my theory. Take it or leave it :) I would love to try the hydro method if i had the space i believe the plants would grow quicker.

I like the idea I'm going to be trying it here soon my last yield before i moved gave me 7.5 under 4 1k lights and it was pretty upsetting not a bad yield, but i want closer to 2-3 lbs per light which is pretty damn hard I'm really pushing and trying to excersize all options i think the goal for me is to get 2.5 i don't know how possible that is, but I'm going to go with the scog method and lollipop and train I'm only join got use house and gardens i tried i did side by side with advanced the plants looked the same, but the taste and the hit was off from both and everyone that tried it agreed, so house and gardens is what i will stick with. I appreciate the help now i just need my electrician to set up my lights and get my controller intoned with the set points so that i can have my room automated. I need to call tech support i have a couple questions about the controller it seems super easy to use, but just want to make sure its all dialed in i use to use sentinel and that thing was a piece of crap so i upgraded to an iPonic which i been hearing mixed reviews, but i will try to post up picks of my room and let you all see the progress and critique me to ensure maximum plant growth is achieved.

if yield is the main goal and its commercial the right sativa/skunk hybrid cant be beat grown hydroponically
a SOG of 2.to 3ft colas , c99 ak47 can work for this too
skunk can finish in 7-8 weeks with only 2 weeks veg

remove all side branches and leaves only grow the top colas
plant them very close so the colas are almost touching
use lots of air circulation to avoid mold

you can get 40 oz from 1kw with this type of thing
and still maintain a good bud/cola consistency
but the plant number is high and its more work
maybe 40-60 plants

you could get 40 oz from 5 or 6 large plants but much of the yield would be shitty lower bud not cola

peace

2.5 lbs per 1000w... 2.5 lbs x 16 ounces x 28 grams = 1120 grams or 1.1 grams per watt.

Setting the bar pretty high... Hope you aren't too disapointed if you don't hit your target.
