My electricity bill is becoming a major headache! (UK)... Oil rads, dehumidifiers lights and fans, water pumps, timers thermostats etc etc on a pre paid meter as well as teenagers leaving tvs on in the daytime when nobody is in the house! I'm feeding the meter around £15 a day! It's killing me!
Wow 15 quid a day! Energy price rises are a disgrace.

I run a 1000 watt flower light and a 200 W veg light.

flower: 12 hours x 1000 w / day x 30 days per month = 360 kw/month
Veg: 18 hours x 200 w / day x 30 days per month. = 108 kw/month

468 kw x $0.16 / kw = $75 / month

We run 18 HLG's , a 3 ton AC unit, a 1 ton unit, mother tent with 2 RIO 420's, 3 dehuyes, fans, a Spartan enviro control system, an AirROS system, and a residence. 18/6 cycle is around $700 a month, during flower at 12/12, around $560 a month. Power here is just under 9 cents per KWH, and they don't give a fuck what time of the day you use it.

My space is in an outhouse so it's the heating that's killing me when the lights are off for 12hrs plus I switched to led to try and save money but you loose that glorious heat from the hps so thinking that was a rookie mistake

Something else to consider is accessing how much electricity you use on a regular basis per item, say for instance a computer, TV, etc. Some people leave their computer on 24/7 while others power it down when not in-use. Same with a TV. My point being, you might be able to turn-off items that consume electricity needlessly. I used to leave my computer on all the time, yet powering it down overnight offset the difference somewhat. Look around for things that don't really need to be left-on. Every little bit helps.

I found that due to my own laziness I was leaving my computer, printer and monitor on all the time for no good reason. Turning that off until I needed it and finding a few other pointless power consumers, I basically offset the cost of 400 watts of light consumption. Every situation is different, but it works for me.
