How much light do I need?

Thanks for the info so far guys, really appreciate the input. I'm curious why rapidLED is recommending this kit (https://www.rapidled.com/vero29se-2-x-4-grow-kit/) for a 2x4 tent if I can go 180~ watts less in the same space and have a similar yield? Or am I misunderstanding?
That's a 320w kit. 180 watts less than that would be 140w, which most definitely won't give you a similar yield. In that space, I would think you'd want something that's capable of at least 240w. If I were growing in a 2'x4', I don't think I'd ever use more than 300w (and more likely around 250w).

So that kit would be a good choice for your space.

This is what 8 x cobs running at 200w total in a 2x4 will do. That's day 35 of flower. I did have my lights at 300w for the first couple of weeks & burnt my plants so they have been getting 200w ever since.
Bar the slight burning & bit of over feeding they are shaping up nicely. Like others have said it’s always good to over spec & have headroom but if you can afford 1 cob per square foot though in a 2x4 space you really are not going to need a lot of wattage. If you can't afford 1 cob per square foot you just use less cobs with a higher wattage but you need more headroom that way as you cannot let your cobs get as close to canopy as you can with more cobs at a lower wattage.
In a perfect world go for 8 cobs & the capability to go upto 50w per cob to somehwat future proof yourself.

Hell back in 74 I grew with multiple 8ft SHO Fluro,
Boy you must be an old fuck.:blsmoke:
I grew my first 5 plants in 1974 too.
Four 4' Grow Lux. Miracle Grow foliar spray.
Kick as shit for back then. I paid $125 a pound of Mexican with lots of stems and seeds.
$250 for a quarter pound of Red or Blonde Lebanese hash.
