How much light in a 4x8x8 grow tent?

I'm going to setup my grow tent in the garage very soon, its a 4' x 8' and 8' tall.

Here is what I have planned:

3 19" cool tube reflectors
3 1000w lights (ballasts outside tent)
6" exhaust fan (>300CFM) hooked up to carbon filter inside the tent, venting outside
Fan blowing directly over root zone to the carbon filter on the other end

I'm going to run 12/12 starting at 10PM ending 10AM, in which the average ambient temperature is below 50F, will 3000W of light even well ventilated raise the ambient temperature in the root zone more than 25 degrees?

Thanks in advance

Hmm i think it would be better to get an 8inch fan just to be safe, doing that i would get a fan speed adjuster so you can change the fan to your needs.

3x1kW is overkill for that tent. Either go with 2x1kW or 3x600w. 3000w could raise the temps more than 25 degrees if it's a small basement with little airflow - really depends on the size though.

I'm wondering why that is. The manual for this tent says it recommends 4000W which definitely seems like overkill. I just moved to an area where power costs are very cheap, so I want to maximize what I can out of a 240v 30-amp circuit.

They recommend 4kW in a 4x8 tent? That's absurd.

A 1kW can cover a 5x5 area decently or a 4x4 area well - personally I choose my 600w over my 1kW in my 4x4. I've grown in a 4x8 with 2x1kW and it was plenty. Best results I've seen in 4x8s were 2x600s on a light mover.

If you can control temps and energy is that cheap then sure - 3kW in a 4x8 would be fun, but it really isn't necessary.

Did you get around to using the 3 x 1000w cooltube setup? Im very interested to know if you had any heat problems, and if not, what was the specs of the fan ?

Dude i am running 2 1000's in basically a 5x7 area, and i can't see a damn thing leaving the room. The "agreed" footprint for a 1000watt is 4x4, so in your tent you should need 2 as everyone else has said. Yes you will be shooting temps for the sky with 3kw and a 300 cfm fan.... I don't think that fan will work with 2 kws honestly.
