How much light is too much?

I like this question.
I don't think there's a single answer because you can use light intensity in different ways.
The more light the more compact the plant.
I like my plants squat. They produce better with the stronger light concentration.

In your space, I think your light is fine, but it's not really 900W.
More like 400.
Its plenty if the lamp is any good.
You don't need any additional.
Note: I don't use blurples.

Viper is crap. Regardles it works closer to 5 to 600 hps. In a 3x3 thats plenty of light in a 3x3. You will bennifit more adding co2 like the exhale360

Light viparspectra 900w..

Considering adding this cob light for flower
http://www.cobledcanada.com/product/768w/

Thoughts? Too much for space? If not think it will yeild more with both? First grow wanna get a nice haul and will do whatever I can do accomplish it
The light you linked to is garbage, do not buy it. $180 is about $170 too much for that thing.

If anything, add more white light, or mono reds, but not more blurple, there is too much blue in your “900” already.

The viparspectra reflector series 900 runs about 418 real watts, it will be somewhat more efficient than HID, but also nearly as hot. It is enough light for your space, you should do quite well with it. Run it full blast for the whole run, all switches on during veg and flower.

The problem would not be too much light, but too much heat, if you added anything else to that space.

This is why I'm asking as I read that the Vipar has low red which is needed for flower right? Any suggestions on a red light that will actually compensate? Preferably shipped from canada

Most LED grow lights have been tailored use a veg and a flower spectrum. Flower is always in the red.
If you’re using lower quality lights, then more of them in there won’t do you any harm. Or you can get a small air cooled HPS hooked up to your outlet, and use a dual spectrum bulb, alongside your led , if you’re worrying. I have good results with HPS and LED mixed.
You buy cheap you buy twice. That’s how it goes with grow equipment.

I have been looking at a 600w digital dimmable air cooled hood combo for flower but I don' think I'd be able to fit both in the tent at the same time.heat would also become an issue I imagine.but was going to get it for flower..and all goes well with this one wife gunna let me get a 4x4 so I can get a perpetual grow happening...thoughts on the 600w tho given height restraints in the tent?

I was actually considering getting the same model for a perpetual harvest upgrade it would be a veg light. I wanted to ask firsthand how the 900w model (400whatever actual draw) lights up a 4x4 area. And as far as how much light, I was going through a bunch of threads on various sites, sorry if you're looking for first hand info not just info spat back out, but one thread was (and this is all model numbers not actual draw) 4x 300w minimum or x4 450w for a 4x4 both veg and flower. Multiple lamps cuz it gives better light spread and more control, I figured taking those wattage numbers (actual draw) would give a pretty decent idea of what to go for. *takes massive breath* sorry turned into a ramble
