How much run off in coco ?

Hey guys, I'm just wondering how much run off is needed for an adult plant in coca ? Do you need alot of water to come out ? And
2) can or should the plant sit in the run off tray or should you remove it after watering?

I belive I highly messed this part up with my first grow . Going round 2 . Just 2 plants

10-20% is common and more is better than too little. Don't let plants sit in run off.

1. Somewhere between 10-30% of what you put in. I would go 20% at least with less frequently hand watered plants. Be aware not to ever let the coco medium dry out.

2. The plant should be elevated with a riser above the tray, or have good enough drainage channels underneath so that it never sits in the runoff at all. Not even if you plan to drain right away. You want all the runoff to drain away from the fresh nutrient solution you are pouring in, and not mix together.

I learned with coco coir
-automated watering is nice. It will greatly increase yield just be sure you do not flood your room
-in dry environments you will need more water and less nutes, and vice versa
-temperature also effects water uptake
-if you can control temp and humidity , watering frequency will be more constant
-VPD is good to follow especially with LED lighting
-rinse, recharge, and buffering coco coir is helpful to make sure the plants start off with what they need. The cations in coco hold on to potassium and cal-mag or something, so if you don't pre charge it, it will rob the plant of those nutrients
-runoff is important. In theory you could run coco with no runoff but.. you would need to know exactly what the plant uptakes. When running a few different strains the 10-20% runoff will ensure the excess salts your plant didn't uptake are rinsed away and do not build up. This is the beauty of coco coir as pH and PPM are very controlled with little hassle.
