Im growing under T-5's and I knew i was going to be raising and lowering a lot to adjust to the height of my plant but SHIT. my plant has grown 10 inches the past 3 days! 10 INCHES!!!! Now i know a few of you are going to say not possible or no way. im not shitting you on tuesday my plant was only 25 inches tall i measured today its 35 inches tall. Again im growing with t-5's and anybody who knows anything about flourescents or has had any experience the best buds form when you get the lights as close as possible to the plant. well at this rate my plant is going to be 5' tall before its finished and t-5's suck for big plants like so. any advice?

4 weeks into flowering. bag seed. I dont think the wattage matters. im running a 6 bulb 48'' t-5 fixture with 4 3500k and 2 6500k bulbs.

id kind of hope that was the last bit of stretch now, as some people say once the lights have been switched you can allow a week before true switch, that would then give you 3 weeks of stretch especially if its a sativa influenced plant, obviously your worried about light penetration with the t5s, id think about side lighting or maybe some late LST-ing, sounds a nice light though, id be tempted to scrog next time, anyway good luck

it sounds like they are possibly stretching to reach more usable light.

Are you using extra side lighting? as flouro penetration is only a few inches.

I guess they could be stretching. Im not using any side lighting right now due to space. I keep my lights as close as possible to the plants, im constantly adjusting the height so that the bulbs are "around" 3 inches away from the main cola.

sounds like a light issue.

If you arent surrounding the plant with flouro's or cfl's then thats your problem. i would have tried ALOT of plant training maybe even SCROG to keep everything even and low.

Side lighting or upgrade to hps is your only answer as training now would be pointless.

I do agree that more lights would be better of course but it just cant happen like I said I dont have room for it. This is my first grow next time at it im going to try and train my plants to keep them shorter, not sure which method to use any suggestions from anybody?

LST is good.

Topping works well then follow it with LST .

Fimming can work well too.

Then there is SCROG which could be beneficial . 1 plant trained using a screen and keep your screen within the boundaries of your flouros then when you switch to 12/12 and the plant continues stretching just keep training it back through the screen.

if side lighting ect is not viable, you could take a gamble and go along the lines of lollipoping ie remove a lot of side branches and concentrate on the main cola, like in sea off green where you have a couple of chops at the lower branches of the plant, though done in the 1st and 3rd week normally, i believe, you might be too far along now but might be worth looking at if it doesent stop, the danger would be stunting etc

I like the idea of LST. I think im goign to try it. I was going to buy some good seeds my next time at it but i think im just going to try and find some decent bag seeds again so i can experiment.
