How much wattage of HPS do I need per plant?

A 400 watt light will work but they are not capable of producing enough candle power to provide maximum potential. Also they are not efficient they just less watts but two 400 will put out about the same amount of light as one 600, 600watters at e the most efficient way to grow hands down. The 600 watt light is the way to go.

My experience with growing
Cfl's suck led's are worse 400 are slow 600 are good 1000 are dam fast(led' s and cfl's good for cloning)

Jordanian you have any pics of your 400 that is getting over a gram a watt. I would have to assume that you are growing a huge production plant in hydro because a gram a watt on any light is a huge yield. Let's see it. Also is electricity expensive in the UK, just wondering why you keep using the 400 I had some to start when I was very young but with the first real light I bought I left those 400 in memory lane. Luckily it was before everyone else and someone Baugh them now people are begging for $50 just to get rid of them on craigslist

Why do people always want pictures.

You only need to look through my profile to find threads started by me.

But here you go.

Some clones that were rooted and then flowered.

Enough yet?

The full grow is in my signature link.

400w hps, 11L pots.

This grow above was 3 plants from seed in 11L pots with 4 clones rooted and then flowered in 6L pots.

Electricity in the UK is around £0.27 per kwh.

Equates to around $0.45 per kwh.

So yeah a little pricey.

Forgot to mention I'm a coco grower that uses chemical nutes.

Plants were DELICIOUS SEEDS FRUITY CHRONIC JUICE and DINAFEM CRITICAL+.

There was 1 large critical+. 112g dry.
1 critical clone 12.1g dry.

3x FCJ clones 21g dry each.

Then 2 larger FCJ plants one with 156g and the other I can't remember around 100g. The weigh in's are also included in my signature thread.

I do agree that the 600w is the most efficient light.
I used to use one.

Then I got busted and didn't fancy the running cost if a 600 again.

So I opted for the 400w.

Nice girls you got there. And thanks for the advice. Yea I plan on using mylar as reflectant as well so that should help some Im guessing. If I can get away with 400 I def. will as I need to keep the electricity bill at a normal rate if I can.

Thanks. But its past tense "had" they came down a while ago.

400w IMO are the personal growers choice.

If you're looking to sell your crop then go bigger for sure.

Don't know about you but I can have one grow a year and enough bud to last me that year. BUT I love growing lol.

I've got a stash of critical, FCJ, blueberry cheese, normal cheese, my trouble is I like to try different strains.

If I was a cash cropper I'd stick to one strain only.

Definitely not selling, just for my personal use. Plan on trying to grow high cbd herbs, like "harlequin" , "cannatonic" and then maybe one autoflower, I heard their good for beginners. Im actually takn' a trip to michigan in the next couple days to see if they have any of the seeds Im lookn for.
