how often do root need water?

i am thinking about growing in pvc pipe with no medium so the roots just grow inside the pvc.how often do they need to get wet ?

no one knows how often the roots need to get wet to live?

ive seen people water there roots at all defferent times some go every 15 mins some every 30 .. i would like into NFT hydro systems im sure u would find out from google. also u can keep the roots in water if get a cheap ass airpump going

i was going to have a piece of tube with a bunch of holes poked in it hooked to a water pump to spray the roots? it would run for 15 min and be off for an hour is that going to work?

I run 1 minute on, 5 minutes off.

can i get 3 plants in 2 ft or should i just do 2 ? i wanted to stagger them to let more light threw?

depends on how big the tubing is , the roots can get pretty big ..

If you are doing the kind of grow that i think you are.Then once the roots have come through the first cube place it in the next size up and get a pump that will send water all the way through the system and back to the main tank leave the pump on a constant trickle you will need a nft sytem pump with the adjuster on so that you can slow the run right down.By doing this it will have a constant film of nutrients flowing over them.but make sure that you put some spreader mat on the bottom of the pipe so the roots can get a hold..............................tyke...................................................................................

what is a spreader mat? i was thinking i'd like something for the roots to grab? what size pump do i need ?

i got a 258gph pump today it will pump water trough a 1/2 inch tube full of holes to spray the roots,the tube is about 40ft long,what size res do i need? the pvc is at a slight angle so the water will gravity drain to the bottom and back to the res.i guess the timer will be set to 15 on 30 off?
