How often do you feed nutrients vs how often you feed plain ph'd water

When growing hydroponically, in a dwc style with the roots suspended in water, how often do you adjust the ppm of your nutrient solution? So if youre running in flower at 1200 ppm and the next day the solution in the dwc bucket is down to 1100, should you adjust the ppm of the solution back to 1200? Or just let it continue to lower until the next time change the water and refill the bucket with the correct ppm nutrient solution? Or would you adjust the soultion every day or two to keep the ppm's where you want them?

***I asked this Q in another section didn't really get the response I was looking for. Basically, how often do you guys add more nutrients to your solution compared to how often you just add plain Ph'd water.

IMO I change my water every 1-2 Weeks. If it gets low I top with plain Ph water. the plants are going to use what they are going to use but that is a good rule of thumb to keep the ppm at a certain level

Ill add to the question. how do you compensate for the PH difference. example, res change at 5.8, three days later its at 4.6 and 2 gallons low. What do you add for PH'd water to top it off? 5.8 wouldnt be high enough to equalize the 4.6 up to 5.8 obviously, so whats the general consensus here.

same goes in revers also, sometimes the PH has climbed to 6.8, and adding 2 gallons of 5.8 obviously wont correct this.

just a problem I have with DWC, fairly relevant and in the spirit of the OP's question. Sorry SOG for jumping in, but This thread is as good a place as any for the discussion.

ill kik ya a lil +rep jus for asking the initial question tho....

My ph always drops.. Thought it was needing more food like typical ph dropping issue, but if your plant is munching away on
Nutrient K they release -H ions causing ph drop, so sometimes misleading. Track ppms and adjust accordingly.

Always adjust after, nutrients or other additives effect ph balance, dunno why someone would adjust then alter mixture knowing ions are effected with nutrients.

Funny basic science class principles which apply to our hobby, maybe having a GED is not as common as I thought,:)

I usually just mix up what I need for watering the girls in dirt.

In DWC I just didnt feel comfortable tossn in PH-down directly in the res. Idk, maybe I was thinkn it could creat a temporary "hot spot" ya know? Just finished up my first DWC plant, and it turned out pretty damn good. So im sure i got a handle on it, im just looking for some pointers to fine tune my DWC abilities. I was pretty impressed with your results BigBuddah, and you def seem to know what your doing.

For the record, I gots my Good Enough Diploma.....but it was so long ago the periodic table hadnt been created yet... hahahaha J/K

I know when I drop my ph up and down in there you can see the havoc it causes with swirls and streaks in the water but "I" have never noticed any ill effects from it.

Want to have some fun, get high and forget which ph solution your using and try to drop it in the wrong one.. BOOOM hahah scares the shit outta me every fu@!&* time!

No insult inteneded unho.. just an observation on something most people counted off as "oh I will never need to use this in real life" subjects that has bit them in the ass now, lol!

LoL, yeah, thats funny shit, only because i just did that the other day, but in my defense, my PH up/dn are in similar bottles... I was wondering why 10 drops didnt get me in the ball park... felt like a shit head.. Im getting new up/dn that sucked.....

The only thing I never really paid attention to was, well, all the subjects.. hahah ADD an all.....

Like most people I really only focus well on things that interest me, then, I can usually master it within a couple weeks max.... cept for the damn guitar... still got a long way to master that.....

i add back ph'd water with h202 throughout the week. i change out every 7-8 days. week 1 of flower for instance i'll set my ec to 1.1 ph 5.7 on a fresh change out. next day ec will be 1.04 ph 6.0. i'll add water ph'd to 5.5 +h202 and top off to where i want it. i'll get the ec down to .8 or so over the week then do a change out and set ec to 1.2 for week 2. i personally peak out at 1.4-1.5 ec.
