How often should i change my water?????

Wusup THCLUV?

You started this thread right? Congrats on the grow! Like I said im yet to grwo anything but im researching this shit like crazy, and alot of experienced growers say that the whole changing a DWC every week or even 2 weeks is bullshit. It doesn't hurt the plants to do that, but it hurts you pocket because your constantly mixing new Nutes. This Lucas guy behind the Lucas formula is some kind of old school Ganja Guru, he started a newer thread in 2006 you can google "Ask Lucas" and on the first page he touches on how you can do DWC without changing the res. There is an exact maths formula, I can't remember it, but its within the first couple pages of that thread.

To bad he doesn't post over there any more, and too bad he doesnt post on here! What I wanna do is find somebody with a DWC RIGHT NOW who doesn't change their water at all til harvest so I can ask some questions. If anybody is reading JOIN THE DEBATE!!! Maybe you'll be that person in a few weeks THC LUV? LOL, but if your gonna use the advice Lucas gives, make sure you follow the part where he says to add LESS NUTES then the equation says you should use. And dont even try to follow it unless you have the correct EC/PPM and PH pens to check the water levels daily. Let me know how you get on Bro.

Im gonna try and find people on here who DONT throw away perfectly good nutes after only a week. Thats not an insult to anybody that does, becaue there is nothing wrong with doing that its a sure way to make sure you plants are getting exactly what you want them to get. The only problem I have with it, is its alot of work draining if you have a large res, and its a waste of money IMO.

Good Luck! Read that Ask Lucas thread, you'll learn alot. Hope this helped you if so click the star under my post on the left and REP !!!
Bro i dont change my DWC until flush i only use canna and i wouldnt advise doing it wit anything else !

That looks like a huge reservoir for only 2 plants... I use a ppm meter, add backs, and solution to maintain the reservoir instead of dumping it. Good luck

From someone who does hydro....It all depends on your res. The size, how many plants, light amount. A basic rule of thumb is 8-10 days. But you have a 20 gallon res.for 2 plants. So your plants wont use up the nutes as fast as if you had 6 plants or so. So my opinion is. When it needs it. You can probably go up to 14 days with that big of a res. with 2 plants. But that would be the max. Also depends on strength of nutes, dosage, root and plant size. A lot comes into play here. The honest answer is, ONLY YOU will know when it needs it. Hydro plants let you know whats wrong a lot quicker than soil, They also respond to changes to them much faster than soil. Sometimes what takes 2 days in soil to fix will only take 2 hours in dro. That being said if they start to show nute deficiency then its a safe bet that the nutes are low in the res. Time to change....Good Luck
