How old must a plant from seed be before cutting clones?

I've done plenty of cuts before from mothers and older seed plants (8 weeks+). Conventional wisdom from das interwebs says a seed plant must be 8 weeks old before taking cuts. That's seems a bit long to me. Can I take cuts from a seed plant at 4 weeks? What say yee
 
There is no rule. You can clone off a plant at anytime.
Small clones take longer to root, and longer to kick into veg mode. That's why it's better to wait till it has a few nodes. It also roots easier from the node area.
 
If I'm taking cuts and in no hurry then leave them to veg and take cuts when pruning her down but usually after 4th node if in a hurry
 
I wait until a seedling has at least 6 node sets before I start taking cuts. You want to take cuts when the plant is healthy and has fully developed.

Yes but you don't HAVE to
God will not strike you down, cops won't be knocking on your door, the cut will still root.
But agreed it's better to wait unless you can't
I'll be taking some small cuts from my frosted fruit cake because I got the seeds 3 week after I planted the others. So what I'll do is let them all root then cut the larger ones down to the size of the small ones and leave the small ones to do their thing. Same size cuts is important.
