How Safe Is It To Grow?

it is a lot safer thank you think but better safe than sorry - you really should be on your toes at all times and tell nobody - In fact I would tell the people that already found out that you backed out for now cause your too scared or something to that effect. (should they bring it up)

like they say better safe than sorry but really if you only hang around responsible adults and family members its not that likely for something to happen - its only really childish people or drug addict types that will rat you out or try to steal your crop or something - If you have street smarts and don't hang around strangers, teenager types, or drug addicts you should be okay but that doesn't mean let your guard down. Just like they say only 1 person can keep a secret - 1 person could tell their friend and that friend tell another and so on - the key is avoiding these types or people who affliate with them - in particuliar watch out for chatty women or men who like to brag. (I think that covers the majority of men and women lol)

The main way cops do investigations and bust people is because people talk to them, its all thru word of mouth. Don't open your mouth about it to anyone especially cops.

If you want to feel a bit better you need to find out what the prosecutor and LEO in your specific county does about medical marijuana because some counties in Michigan at least the cops and prosecutor have a hands off approach and they never mess with anyone who is legal, individual officers are told to leave them alone and prosecutors dismiss their cases - and on the opposite end of the spectrum some counties they are vicious terrorist who will bust in your house with submachine guns and ski mask and then proceed to steal all your money/electronics/automobiles/valuables, shoot your dog, mace you, and try to get your kid taken away.

Don't tell anyone. The thing about people you trust is that relationships change. That's the nature of humanity. The curse of the young is that we think the present is static. And once that relationship changes, the person you trusted has something they can hold against you.

I told my best friend of 20 years, known him since grade school, worked with him for nearly a decade. I trusted no person more than him. One day, his wife convinced him to become a christian. I don't have a problem with christians in general, some of my favorite tokers are old timey christians. But I'm a pagan. For some reason, my lifelong best friend could no longer reconcile this. In his dismay over the state of my soul, he told his wife all about my pagan beliefs, along with the fact that I grow weed (gasp!) for personal use. She shared that gossip with some of the girls she worked with, and two weeks later one of their husbands approached me asking if I could sell him some weed.

That's not OK. I confronted my bud about it. He was the only one who knew I had a small grow. He felt bad, but used it as an opportunity to once again pine over the state of my soul.

And that, is why you don't tell anyone. Ever. It's a hard lesson many people have to learn from experience.

:leaf:Wow man, sorry to hear it ended like that. I wish the people that do know about my grow didn't. But they do, now all I can do is try to throw them off or hope they don't tell. Not very good options...:leaf:

Honestly, as long as you have your medical permission in order, you have a defense. In WA, they can still arrest you, take your shit away etc...but once it goes to court you're clear. I know that most politicians want to see that change so there's no opportunity for seizure and arrest (obvious waste of state money), but unfortunately it got thrown into 5073 along with all the other shit no one wants.

Tell them since you were so worried about growing that you found someone that will grow for you (be your provider) all you have to do is donate your equipment and it doesn't have to be at your place for you to worry about...... I don't know, but I sure would try and find a way to get them off your scent. About 99% of busts and rip-offs can be attributed to "telling" friends.

:leaf:Do you mean co-op grow houses? And I'm not blabbing my mouth about it at all, only a very select few trustworthy people know about it.:leaf:
No, I believe they meant drug house. No med patients, no caregiver paperwork just 700 plants and a cot. And, that's not true med patients get busted all the time. Some get their property back, others get caught with 200K and 3 ziplocks full of Ecstasy and do time.

:leaf:I'm within the legal limits, with my medical card/papers. I was told they can charge you and take you to jail, that it's only in court where you can really fight your case. Any truth to that? Just wondering how long they could put me in jail for? I have a small child that needs me at home, I can't be going to jail! But I need my medicine, and a little income at the same time so I figured this would be the ticket. Just getting paranoid, I have a lot to lose...:leaf:
You CAN still go to jail. RCW 69.51.A (or it's amendments) does legalize marijuana for medical reasons, it provides you with a defense in court. While many police won't bother even taking a sample or writing a report, they are free to take everything and send you through the ringer. Most departments are too understaffed and suffering from budget cuts; they're not going to waste their time if you're not using your card as an excuse to make 100K a year off the books. Yakima just wasted tens of thousands and lost to a guy with 201 plants and a DP form for every plant. And this guy didn't look like one in the good ol boys club, he was a black guy (my experience is black people usually get treated a bit harsher by the man)

It really depends on the area you're in, the cop(s) and what they discover. If they knock on the door and a beety eyed teenager stumbles out with a Corona in his hand, you might have problems. But, you don't have to answer the door for the cops, just like you don't have to answer the door for Mormons. If they knock, don't open the door. If you don't notice who is at the door (you should ALWAYS be aware of who is at your home) and you see a badge - step outside close the door behind you and insist they come in with a warrant only. Everything you tell the cops is voluntary.

:leaf:But dude you don't know me, you don't know where I live. I'm an anonymous person on here. Do I really have to worry about the internet like that?:leaf:
How anonymous do you think this site is? Unless your very computer savvy, nothing online is anonymous. While, I am not implying the site is poorly maintained or unsecured; computers are nothing but 1's and 0's you put the right combination in and it does what you want.

:leaf:Does Washington State give out medical cards? All I have is the papers the doc. gave me saying that I can grow 15 plants and have so many ounces of ready to smoke buds. Is this the same thing? Or am I missing something?:leaf:
No, while some clinics have their own cards they issue, WA does not have a state-issued card. Also, in the event you are pulled over and have to prove you are a patient, a card is NOT a recommendation.

:leaf:Very true, good advice man! I only got 1 copy of my medical paperwork when I got it, can I make a copy of it and keep the original at home posted in the room, so I can carry the copy with me at all times? Or does it have to be a legal fancy copy?:leaf:
The new amendment says all recommendations starting June 2010 (I think that's when) have to be on security paper. Your original goes in a safe deposit box or wherever you keep the deed to your home and the family jewels. You only produce an original under a court order. Sure a copy can be altered but when you show the judge your original unaltered document, he/she will know. If a cop ever questions your recommendation, tell them you'll produce it for a judge. He may take you up on that and slap the cuffs on you, but unless you're being a jerk to the cop; then you should be fine. If you need to know where to keep your copies:
in your purse/wallet
in the grow room
with your cured meds
with your stash
with your designated provider - DP form and a copy of a valid WA DL/ID
in your car (even if you're not driving) what if your son or whatever gets pulled over and there is a pipe - just saying... it happens.

original in safe and you may want one with your lawyer.
