How safe is this site?

I can't help wondering just how safe this site is. I live in the UK and there has been a trend recently of people posting vidoes on youtube of them driving on the road doing stunts or riding motorcycles at speeds in excess of 100 mph. I know that the police have been arresting the people responsible for these vidoes and am wondering, can they get my IP etc from here, can they subpeona the sites owners for personal info? For all I know this whole set-up could be run by the police as a means of drug control. I'm sure it isn't but, I was just wondering what kind of guarantee I have that I am not going to be raided as a consequence of posting on here. I wouldn't say that I am overly concerned but some reassurance would be nice.

no idea, had the same questions when i first came here............... only time I've heard of someone being busted from this site, it was because of snitches (not from the site).

In most cases, it'd be financially irresponsible for the gov to prosecute most of the hobby growers on this site. I know that hasn't stopped them in the past, but times are a' changin', albeit slowly, around the world.
If some fed gets a sticker up his a*s to bust any RIU user, I really doubt this site would be part of the prosecution.
That's why I'm confident that posting a real picture of myself is perfectly safe.

I live in the UK and the five oh are a lot more petty over here. I don't see many other UK users which is why I raised the question. I do have a degree of safety as I am not doing anything on my own premises.
I just thought there seems a lot more people on here that are/have been growing and not so many harvesting. I haven't seen or heard of one UK user that has harvested a crop after showing pics of a grow. having said that, I haven't seen any journals that have just stopped during the later stages of flowering.
It is really more a theoretical question than a genuine concern. even so, a lot of people have some kind of disclaimer in their signatures.

Do you think a disclaimer is going to work to keep your ass out of trouble? lol people do that cause it makes them think they are covering there ass... in reality i doubt a DA would see something as trivial as a disclaimer on a website and make a ruling off that.... just my 2 cents, most the time i see links to peoples journals in their signatures.... :peace: :joint: #700 MO FUCKA :blsmoke:

I grow to look cool, all my pictures are really tomato plants that i photoshopped the same potleaf on over and over, i got the "potleaf" from a japanese maple tree :)

It's a website - you never know who is watching. You wanna live in fear? I grow, I post pictures, & I don't care if a officer of the law sees. This is MY life & no one can tell me what to do. Do you really think they want to lock up people for growing a couple of plants? I would suggest you approach everything in life this way. You always have a choice! There are always consequences! Chose your path & never let anyone tell you that there is only one way. Life itself has NO rules!

You know how many similar boards are out there on similar websites...for not just pot, for anything that you can think of that is illegal. I don't know of a police department in the world that has the resources to go out and get individuals based on a post on the internet. I'd think that terrorism would be #1 on the list of things that they are watching the internet for in the UK. I don't think some guy posting about growing a few plants for personal use is that interesting to them unless you have all kinds of other shit going on and a REASON for them to monitor your web traffic. (I mean - look at my grow jounal - I'm not even getting to the point that I have a flowering female - yet!) If you're going to go that far into paranoia, you better think about your ISP, your cache, all of the stuff that you delete that's not really deleted....

...don't drive yourself insane. Grow for yourself, tell no one or only those you'd trust with your life, and don't sell it and act like a jackass.

I promise you they do monitor all kinds of sites. I don't think they would bother with this particular one, like most people have said, pot growers on a domestic scale are not woth the resorces but you must of heard of numerous peadophile rings that have been shut down and the nonces locked up (bloody right too) as a result of using the internet so, yes, they do have the resources, it's just a matter of priority. A few ganja plants dont really have the priority but the know-how and ability is definately there. I have been off the radar for over ten years (and staying that way) since I realised I wasn't really a gangsta lol, no i don't think I am putting myself at risk, I just wondered what sort of security guarantee there was if any, more out of interest than concern.
I'm just another anonamous face in a very very big crowd. I'd be more concerned of someone trying to hack into my pc than of the police knocking on my door. Interesting topic though.

I'd say this site is as safe as any other marijuana growers forum on the internet, just don't post to much info about yourself and you'll probably be alright.
