no, it matters... keep the seeds in a fridge... with something that absorbs moisture, like some rice.. put some rice in a little plastic container then put your bags or packages of seeds in there.. the rice will keep them dry and the cool dark place is perfect for long time storage.

main thing is do not leave in the sun, do not heat up, do not allow to get moist and do not vibrate too much (store them in your car for example).. IMO those are the main causes of killing seeds prematurely... other than the really obvious ones.. cracked or crushed seeds, etc..

If you are going to use them in a year or 2, it does not matter much really, just keep them dry and airtight. If they are to be held for several years, then in air tight container that is dry and in the fridge. Freezing for seeds to be stored for say over 10 years.

most people use a film canister, really they can be fine in a film canister for several decades - fridge is totally unnecessary - you can keep them in anything really - just use some kind of cup with a lid if you dont have a film canister - if you dont have a cup with a lid use a plastic bag and put them in a drawer

I know people who keep them in the fridge but for me personally there is no way I would do that in fear that someone would try to eat one lol or that the fridge would have a leak or spill and get on/in the seeds

others use Kinder eggs toy containers :D Provided you have them at some store around, they won't rise any suspicion :D

Mate just because I have 12 posts on RIU don't mean I'm a noob at growing! I just don't understand how people (like urself) repeat the same answers to new growers who constantly ask the same questions instead of using that little search tool.. I'm not having a go at anyone, I just find it silly.. If I have a question on my mind I'll use the search tool or if I hav a general question about anything other than growing I use google to research.. It's so much quicker and easier looking for answers rather than posting a question and waiting for a reply.. Sorry if I offended anyone I certainly didn't intend to. No it ain't a pr0xy..

yea just keep em in a bag hidden it really doesn't matter, but if you have good quality seeds that you want to keep safe, just put them in a tin or something so that they cant get crushed, thats what i do. :bigjoint:
