How strong is the smell??

So this would be my first grow. Recently I've been looking into growing indoors.
My question is have you ever grown indoors and not been able to smell it?

There are people who live with me who wouldn't be cool with me smoking, let alone growing. So basically would it be possible for them to not find out?

I can pretty much guarantee that nobody would come within about 5-10 feet of the grow, and it would be completely hidden. I was thinking of a small 4x4x6 cfl box, with two smaller 105 cfm inline fans with two carbon filters plus a bunch of those small odor absorber things. would two smaller fans with two carbon filters be better than one bigger fan with one bigger filter? also how loud are "quiet" in-line fans?

Thanks!

If you have a good carbon filter the air will be odorless. This assumes your grow area is 100% sealed. I disagree with above, I have done it myself from start to finish in a small 3 bedroom apt and the other 2 roommates never had any idea. Its possible to keep the smell hidden...but not generally easy / cheap. Also it can be tough at times why you are going into your bedroom with gallons of water if they happen to spot you during feeding.

At some point in time it will become almost impossible to hide the smell. Unless you can seal yourself inside your grow area with a "real" filter going constantly, I doubt you can hide it. Have you thought about harvesting and drying? What about when remove your buds from the grow area. You would have to dry and cure in a sealed room with a filter and still you will be opening the room from time to time. I don't know your exact setup so I'm not saying its completely impossible, but I'd bet it would be very, very hard to pull off. Sorry, just my opinion though, maybe someone else here has some ideas that might work.

Carbon filters do a good job but not 100%

Unless they have been around growing weed before they are probably not going to immediately identify the smell as weed, but it will get their attention.

If "they live with me" as you stated kick them out and get new roommates. Or tell them to fuck off.

I kind of doubt the scenario as you described, I think you're growing in your parents house in your bedroom closet.

In any case if it's a real issue your not going to pull it off in all probability.

These people do not support cannabis use? They might get you in a lot of trouble if they find you are growing. You can get a carbon coal filter setup, but I had one and it did not completely remove the odors. How many plants do you plan on growing? The fans capable of being equipped with the filters are loud. I have heard of people dampening this noise. Your electric is going to jump also, even if you use CFLS. You have to figure all the electricity this is using. Your not just powering the lamps your powering the fans also, and any other equipment.

You might want to have an outside guerrilla grow, which has its own risks. Not trying to put you down, but if your roommates do not support cannabis in anyway that is a huge risk to grow inside.

If you flower one or two smallish plants, in a small space, with air ventilation inside the area and a ton outside (ie an open window or a huge room). You'll be able to do it. Just barely. I suggest Nirvana's Blue Mystic, as it actually doesn't smell very heavy during flowering. All-in-all, having a place to live is more important than smoking weed. Patience is a virtue, I waited 3 years between my second and third grow because it was not the right place or time - and now I'm reaping all of the rewards.

I sub let my flat for 3 years while I was growing. Every single one worked it out.

They will work it out, and if they are not happy with you just toking, you are not going to end up in the best of circumstances whenntheybfind you growing.

If you decide to grow out doors I hope you can hide it since it will be obvious if they see a plant like a cannabis plant and the smell WILL most likely leak inside the house
I grew and my neighbors smelled it from the other side of the street but they are cool with it so it became an inside joke when we were around people who didnt know they would be like you smell those incenses? I see you got the grape ones this time funny stuff

I have a very nice set up......Climate control..the works K. Even growing what they call " LOW ODOR " strains. I can still smell it. Typically your fans are only running during lights on....I'm talking about the Carbon Filter fan. So whats going to happen when that fan is not pulling from the room??? Thats right...your going to smell it.

Lets not forget the noise the fans make when they are running???

No, not in December buddy haha.
But damn, how bad is the smell outside??
I mean I've got a pretty big lot, but if your neighbors across the street smelled it...
Any way to hid the smell when you'reoutside?

Outside plants get much larger because of the sunlight and the length they get to grow. I have never grown an outdoor plant, but I am sure the smell is very noticeable because of the sheer size. You better have a good, secluded, hiding spot that gets a lot of light. I would take different paths to it every-time also, so you don't wear down the ground and let people have a trail to your pot of gold. It is going to need a lot of water once it gets a decent size also.
