How to confirm my seed is hatching???

I have a seed and waiting for it to germinate so I know if I need to put another in. Is it harmless if I pull some of the dirty off it very gently so i don't touch it and only do it once, just to see if it's hatching yet?

Dude you are going to need a few days to even tell. I would not disturb it.

Growing takes tons of patience. Your are just at the first stage and anxious, calm down a bit.

Don't pull any dirt off of it. If it's growing, you can damage it. Just leave it alone. Give it at least 10 days before worrying.

give it a week atleast. then you can take some tweezers or something and remove a tiny bit of dirt till you find it ive done it before no problems. did you plant it shallow? like 1/4 inch is how far to go just enough to cover up the seed a tiny bit. keep a humidity dome on it or like a plastic cup upside down and just dont mess with it no watering or anything with the dome it will take forever for it to dry out you shouldnt have to water for like a week or two depending on your container.

Starting from seed takes longer than clone, you will have to plan for this time. Takes about a week-two weeks to get the plant up above the medium and growing at a decent pace. This is why people like clones. I still prefer seeds though.

I did 1/2 inch from reading another source. I don't water it but just make sure the soil isn't dry on the surface

yeah 1/2 is ok no deeper though. sometimes if you go too shallow the root will grow up out of the ground lol.

It just is worrying me cause all the seeds came in the mail crushed up into little pieces and only a couple looked like they might work. So that is why i'm not being patient.

You should try contacting the company. A lot of them are hard to contact but worth a try. Don't mention germination, they won't answer it. Just tell them the seeds were crushed.

Most major seedbanks would resend if you just told them about it. I've pulled soil/coco away from seedlings a few times before to check if they were coming up
which caused no problems, i haven't done that in a while though.
