How to cut and trim buds to perfection?

I am a first time grower and currently ready to harvest my first plant. However, I want to make sure my buds are properly trimmed and cured right.

1. Should I manicure the bud after I pick it, or wait till I finish drying for 5-7 days.
2. I want the finished buds to look dank as hell...whats the best way?

i personally trim all major fan leaves at harvest, and anything sticking off the buds that isnt sugary, then hang to dry. after drying, and before curing, i start clipping the sugar leaves off (only up to flush with the bud itself, i dont dig into the nug to cut at the stem). set sugar trim aside for hash, place re-trimmed nugs in jars and begin the cure.

just how i do it is all.

can one make cannabutter from the sugar trim? (you know, butter + water simmer, strain, fridge, separate)
Absolutely. You may want to grind it (sugar leaves) up in a blender, and then empty that intro your crock pot, put the lid back on the blender with a bit of water in there and get all the rest of the kief around the blades off in the water. Empty water into crockpot with rest of ground sugar leaves, then add however much butter you want. The let simmer for 12 FULL hours. I'm not fucking kidding on this either (And to be honest, 16 is ideal). My girl makes the dopest treats, and she has been tinkering with different extraction methods and figuring out what is best for a medical treat. One of her treats is nearly too much for me.

Also, get creative for your uses with for the butter. Last Thanksgiving we had a Danksgiving in which cannabutter was substituted for butter in every dish (Cannabutter on your bread rolls, cannbutter on your sweet potatoes, cannabutter in your mashed potatoes, cannabutter in the cake. Then at the end of the night, a nice cup of hot cocoa...yes, with cannabutter.

Sidenote: Our company and us immediately passed out on the floor after this feast. I will never forget it.

Thanks dude (REP). I heard that the crockpot method works well. I usually just simmer in a small pot for 2 hours until most of the water evaporates and that works pretty well too, even when I use already vaped "poo".

Do you recommend drying the sugar leaves before I grind them in the blender? And if so, for how long, and what's the best way to dry them?

p.s. Danksgiving -- awesome.

sorry i didn't get back sooner for the previous question, but i would say doing it in the blender, dry or wet wouldn't matter (though maybe dry might cause less chlorophyll to stay in the mix?). I (will) use my trim for ice hash. I don't have a blender or the means to create a tube for iso, or the funds for bubble bags. When making ice hash, thankfully, dry/wet doesn't matter much.

you do not want to use wet sugar leaves, the trichomes fall of easier with dry and frozen ones, but there is not extraction in that process, it all goes into one pot, so i guess it wouldnt matter
