How to dry outside?

If you can't use the attic then outside under trees works just fine, just watch the weather
 
I don't have an attic..

And during harvest time my area is very wet usually.. I don't think simple branches would shed the rain enough
 
If done outdoors you will be at the mercy of mother nature. There is no getting around that one. It's been done by many men for many centuries tho. There is risk both ways. Inside...well there's no denying it's your bud stinking up the apartment complex. "Uhh officer, that's not mine". Outdoors the risk is spoiled or less than stellar weed. Neither are guaranteed to fail or succeed.

You can come up with something ;)
 
What do you guys think of a shack built in the woods with plywood and hang in there? It will keep rain off but I worry about actual humidity outside being enough to mold them...

What do y'all think of my idea to put plastic wrap over the plants during the last week or so of flower and I'll just bring water to them myself during that time? Do you think this would be worthwhile in combating the mold while it's finishing up flower and drying out?

I was also thinking of going to an unused house (I live around alot of cottages) and use an outside outlet to plug in a food dehydrator. Then I could use that to partially dry the nugs. The idea here wouldn't be to dry them alot just get out enough moisture so the mold won't have a chance to get going cus it will be as if it's been drying for a few days right off the bat. Agree? I've never actually done this before it's just theory so correct me if that would mess them up

What do u think of a plywood shack to hang them in and/or plastic wrap over them during the last bit of flowering so no moisture can get into the buds and slow the drying process or mold them before they even finish
 
Would using a dehydrator to dry them a little bit to where mold isnt a big issue and then hanging them to dry the rest of the way work ok?

Last year we had buds that werent dried enough when we went to smoke them so we made a bowl out of tin foil and toasted them but that worked pretty bad lol tasted bad and turned them really crispy
 
If you used six tarps {floor, roof and sides} to make a paracord and tarp room, you can keep the rain out. But if it's raining, it's going to be 100% humidity too. What I would do is clip it in paper grocery bags, and put it in the trunk of your car. Stagger your harvest so you can fit it all in there. It dries fast though. So check on it often.

You might try it a day or so in the car, then see how much it smelled up your apartment.
 
How about this idea. Instead of buying boards and plywood, buy a grow tent and carbon filter. Dry at home and sell enough for a good light. Just a thought that may fit your circumstances.
 
I concur. This is really simple if you have an indoor location to utilize. All that is needed is a grow tent, exhaust fan, carbon filter, ducting, and a small floor fan to provide some air movement. There will be ZERO odor issues.
 
I once tried to dry my stuff in an abandoned house, hung the stuff in a closet, came back a week later opened the door, than shut it real quick
than opened it again. The stuff had this three in layer of gray mold on it, couldn't even make out was drying, ugh.
Than once I snuck into what I thought was an abandoned business, strung a whole bunch a weed across the open space, seemed really good.
came back a week later and there was a note on the string thanking me for the weed, that sucked too.
The only time I was successful drying my stuff out side was when I just hung it from trees right where I grew the stuff, it is all about airflow when drying, no if's an's or
but's, airflow. But I have also herd, but don't know for a fact that UV degrades the tri-commes, in any event remember air flow.:peace:
 
Well currently I live with my parents but there's a chance I'll have an apartment by the time I harvest, but not guaranteed.if I do I can try the grow tent and carbon filter which I'd probably grow in later. But idk if I'm gonna have that in time for harvest..

Which is why I'm thinking I'll have to dry outside.. But I can't have my crop ruined, I'm liking the paper bag in the trunk idea but I have a truck with no topper at the moment.. I could easily get a topper though and dry them in the bed of my truck if you guys think that would be a solid way to do it without them molding?
 
I feel like a topper on the bed of a truck wouldn't do nearly as good of a job of keeping out moisture as the trunk of a car would..
 
If you cannot get a tent/carbon filter setup and do it securely indoors, then just hang dry the crop outdoors on site. Your putting way too much thought/worry into this IMO and making it far more complicated than it needs to be. Do not need a shelter of any type, as it will only restrict airflow and cause more harm than good.

Hang a line between trees in an area that will get plenty of good circulation but will not be in direct sunlight. For a quicker dry, chop plants up and hang individual branches (making sure they do not touch).
