Yeah I've never flushed before.I used organic my first few times, now I'm using supernatural nutrients and a few humboldts so I need to flush for the first time.

It's full of shit that won't taste good to smoke, just molasses and water the last week.1 tsp per gallon will give your plants an energy boost with carbs
Okay ...I totally know the proper way to flush promix (soil, soiless medium, dirt; etc), but what if you absolutely have to flush quick? Any emergency techniques?
Also, water or product? And if product, is there really any difference between say Flora Kleen, or Final Phase, as in are they both trying to do the same thing or do different flushing products have different strategies on how they work?

I'm pretty sure they use a bath tub or some sort of tub like a storage container or somthing

My plants seem to do well with three light soil feedings, followed by a trip to the sink. I usually foiler spray every 10 days. I'm a fan of a feeding a little often, and mixing the foiler feeding in has really helped my plants. Using a tupur 65/35 soiless/soil mix in 3.5 gallon pots. i seem to water about 2 gallons through 9 plants every 2.5 to 3 days. Switching to hydro however

i cant believe this thread made it to 2011 i thought i was going to be the one to resurrect it some good info here so if i understand everything correctly i can flush 3-4 gallons of water through my 1 1/2 gallon pot two to four times in the last two weeks

I've recently found that when done that way the soil remains too soggy and slows the last growth spurt of the plants. So instead I just flush with 1 gal plain water with 1 tsp molasses every 3 days for the last 2 weeks. Great smoke
I'm pretty much a noob so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. Yeah, that's somewhat of a pun considering we're talking about flushing...
Like everything on the Internet, there is conjecture about what works and what doesn't. I like to take the information I've read and process it by what I see most commonly and what makes good sense. What I do is cut nutes the last two weeks before harvest. When I cut the nutes, I leech or flush the plants with two to three times the amount of water compared to pot size. For instance, this time I used 3 gallon SmartPots so I'll run six to nine gallons of water over each plant. After that I just use plain old water that is ph balanced.
As previously mentioned, you're trying to break down the salt build up in the soil. I've also read that you're trying to break down the naturally occurring sugars in the plant by basically 'starving' the roots, thus the plant starts to feed on the sugars contained within the leaves, which ultimately gives a smoother hit and better taste. That combined with a good dry/cure makes for a pretty decent tasting bud.

YMMV.I have had good success going with the procedure of flushing 10 days before harvest. I generally run about 6 gallons through 3 gallon pots. Then top it off with a molasses watering. After the flush, I am very very stingy with water. I will give them a normal watering 3-4 days after flush, and then a LIGHT watering 3-4 days after that. From that point until I cut they will get no more water. Once the soil has dried from the last watering, I leave them in darkness 48 hours then cut.

lift toilet seat and, lid place pot in bottom if it wont fit take plant out of pot. put roots or pot in toilet flush 10x for every 1 gal in pot size

just plain water for 2 weeks and just water till you see run off a few x during the last 2 weeks is how i have been doing it recently.

i really only do a true flush if there is a lockout or nutrient problem but i will say fresh water the last 2 weeks improved taste tremendously

My last grow was Nirvana Bubblelicious in 3 gal pots with chem nutes and final phase for flushing. I flushed according to directions (used the final flush 2 weeks before anticipated harvest) and watered with plain PH balanced water after that. Only problem was my plants kept on going and 3 weeks later only one showed any kind of yellowing leaves! I hadn't planned on going that long before harvesting (impending vacation plans) so I ended up chopping a little early while the leaves were still mostly green, hoping that the final phase and additional 3 weeks of plain water would have done the trick and my buds would end up smooth.
After curing for quite a while they're still not as smooth as I would have liked. I got a great yield (5.5 dry zips off 3 plants) of great quality smoke considering it's my first indoor grow, but the second time around I'm definitely going to wait until the leaves completely turn before I harvest, no matter how long the plants are taking. After a lot of research on this site (and others) it seems to me that RollUrOwn is right on the money. The key (at least in my mind) is waiting until the plants have fed on all the sugars in the leaves, and the plant won't do this until all the nutes are flushed out of the soil. It doesn't seem to matter how you flush them out, but to get the real good taste you gotta starve your plants in the end. My buds had good potency and are covered in crystals but most didn't quite have the taste I was looking for.
