how to get rid of gnats

Yellow sticky traps at soil level and a few above lights and around the tent/roomfor flying adults . . . or a Pyrethrum spray.

Gnatnix for the soil to kill larvae . . . . . http://www.growstone.com/fungus-gnat-control/

THEN reduce the amount you are watering. For the next few waterings, bottom feed to leave an inch or two dry on top. Perhaps cut down on the amount of nutrient, the gnats are attracted to high levels of fungal matter in the soil . . . .

:)

I just got rid of my gnat probelm completely, so if you do this right you shouldnt have gnats anymore for a while.

Stuff you will need - Sand ( Homedepot 6$ a bag ) & Diatomaceous Earth ( Food grade/OMRI Homedepot has it for like 5$ too.)

1) Wait for your soil to be dry, dont be afraid to over do it either.
2) Remove the top soil of your pots and replace it with new soil. Sprinkle a layer of Diatomaceous Earth around your plant and under your pot. Gnats like to hang around the bottom of your pot too. This will kill the larvae.
3) Cover the soil with sand, make sure it's good quality sand. Cover everything well, this will prevent gnats from reproducing. Make sure you cover your soil AGAIN with sand after you water your plants, just until you get rid of them.

Honeslty that should be enough for you to see a difference in 2-3 days. I like to spray my plants every 2 weeks with neem oil/protekt, seems to help out a bit as well. Traps do catch a few but they dont get rid of them completely, you need to mess with their life cycle in order to get rid of them for sure. Goodluck bro stay lifted :bigjoint::peace::leaf:

Don't let the yellow sticky tape touch your plants! Kills leaves within an hour! The parts it touches, not the rest of leaf...

I just started using Diatomaceous Earth two days ago. I had been battling them with hydrogen peroxide for a couple weeks. It was doing the job, but not fast enough...
The Diatomaceous Earth knocked everything down that was left. They are still in the soil and will need at least 3 more treatments to take out the ones in the soil.

I am having a prob with gnats any help plz.
You can put out a few small dishes or cups of soapy water. That will catch some of the adults. Mosquito dunks might work as well. But I think the best control is to let the soil dry out.

It works for sure, you can also dust your plants with it to kill other pests as well. My outdoor plants are covered with diatomaceous earth and nothing goes near them! make sure you sprinkle some DE around the drainage holes cause they have access to soil and roots there too. keep your waterings to a minimum from now on till you see no more gnats. when you dust your plants with DE make sure you dont water for at least 3-4 days. once you dust a layer on top of your soil, cover it with sand. you will see gnats on top of the sand, they're trying to figure out how to get back in the soil but they can't.

I have tried following methods and these work like a charm:
1. We have used bright yellow Fly Paper Traps and they work superbly against gnats.
2. We have also used Biological Nematodes against them and they awesome to reduce the further growth of gnats.
3. Gnats hate the smell of Basil, Vanilla, Lemon Oil so you could use them for keeping gnats away.

I have come across an excellent resource that enlists some other methods: http://www.getridoffliesguide.com/how-to-get-rid-of-gnats-inside-house-kitchen-outside/

I've tried a lot but only seem to knock them back

Tried:
Letting soil dry
Mosquito dunks
Azamax drench x2
Sticky traps

Getting some food grade diatomaceous earth to try next

Laying flat duct tape sticky-side up on the top of the soil has caught a lot of little ones before they mature

Get a bowl. Fill a quarter of the bowl with fresh apple cider vinegar. Wrap the bowl up with clear plastic wraps and poke little holes in the top. Leave it by your gals and watch the gnats fly into your bowl and can't escape. Within a few days, no more gnat.

Sticky cards are a good defense but you will need some extra effort, use neem oil its got very little residue, is organic and safe, most the time gnats come from the eggs in your soil mix, more so if its been sitting for a while in a warehouse, check date next time on the bag
