Hi, I'm a newbie and am very close to harvesting 3 healthy looking plants! The flowering stage has taken longer than I expected, so it's looking like they won't be ready to harvest until just before I have to leave town for the holidays...Talk about bad timing!! Since it will be a few weeks I will be away, and I know how crucial it is to be hands on during the harvest/curing phase I will need to figure out some alternative options.
I was considering cutting them down and hanging them to dry in the dark (and secure) basement (it's about 50% humidity no colder than 15 degrees Celsius) but my concern is 3 weeks will be too long and I will over dry my buds...
My other thought was to harvest the week before I travel so the buds can dry properly, but then I am not able to "burp" the jars while they're curing...I don't want to over dry my buds OR cause mold obviously, but there is no way around leaving them unattended, so I was hoping someone might have some tips on how to successfully do a "hands-free" cure if you will (poke holes in the jar or something?!), or if leaving the plants to dry for that amount of time will be ok after all?
Thank you in advance for your advice!
