question is ? how can i suspend this bulky light with a built in ballast its basically a rectangular box with all built in so wieghs a little bit and i cant connect it to the cieling so how can i suspend it so its pointing down at my plants? any good tips will be well appreciated peeps !

just need it hung up but not connected to the cieling/ how can i achieve this ?

The 400hps outside the tent hung? build a small T frame with 2x4's...Build two of something like this:

frame.jpg

Take another 2x4 and link it together at the top and another on the bottom/back and it will be a very sturdy structure to hang the light from :)

+rep for a gr8 answer man, only thing is i am broke as fook, so if i can improvise a less amount of timber setup that would be ideal, but thinkin about it its the safest way to suspend the light man without worying its gonna fall off a wall bracket system if there was such one,, will start pricing timber i think, cheers man !

It would only take 3 10' 2x4's to build both of them...and here those are only like $2.50 each...and screws are cheap...ive got craptons of screws all the time :D

or you could pull two chairs together so that their back to back and pull them apart just enough to rest it on it might give u enough clearance depending on what u have your seedlings in.

good idea man, but i would av to extend it off the floor then somehow ( to get the hieght ) so i am thinking the wooden job massah is gonna upload a pic of is the way to go, that way i no 100% its sturdy and i can control the hieght width etc but eh man when i cruise out later i will check by my second hand store just incase theres so ideal bit of rack of somekind, but i doubt it so i will check out massah pic andjust copy is idea ,,, again thanx for ya input man !

Thats the base of it...just get the angles right on the supports and yer good to go...tack 2x4's to the top and along the back side and it will be free standing and you can use chain or rope or whatever to hang it from the top to make it easily adjustable :)

I just use it for one end of a clothes hangar bar that goes across and mounts to the wall...I just used a hole saw to cut a hole in the top of the 2x4 that extends up :)

For under $20 you can get all of the things you need made out of pvc at any home Depot or Lowes.

You'll need two "T" for the bottom and 2 "45"'s for the top two long poles for the sides and 5 smaller pieces for the feet and top cross bar.

You will see in this pic how I used smaller pvc pipe to strengthen a 4x4 tent I turned on it's side for a veg tent.
I aslo use the same method in my 4x8 flower tent to help with the weight of 2 hoods, fan and scrubber.

nice man very nice, thing is man this old (real old ) rectanglular shaped box with the ballast built in wieghs in propper heavy i mean heavy man ! thats y i think in this case the timber way is the safest although i here u loud n clear n can see for myself how much of good job u av done with ur piping which is a excellent way to build ur own setup +rep for both you and massah for ur help today. thank you !

No problem, like I said, you can get larger/thicker piping. I used thinner 1/2 and 3/4 due to my needs but you can get them all the way up to 2 and 3 inch's. Here is a pic before I covered it with the tent.

They carry the weight of two hoods and ducting with no problem.

£50 should get you a nice 4x4x6'3 reflective then. I paid 79$ shipped for the 3 I have.
I tried plastic once and found it didn't breath enough and the temperature changed so fast it created a lot of condensation.
Even with iso fans and a hood blower running there was water buildup.
