How to hardwire a PC fan to a PC speed controller?

I bought a couple of 120mm PC fans that came with speed controllers. They are wired up to be plugged into a PC tower/case.
I'm wondering how I can wire it up to work with a 12v adapter.
I'll include a bunch of pics...

I assume I should be able to do this, but I'm a bit confused

I have a few running without a speed controller.
As long as its a 12V adapter it will work fine.:peace:
Just find the 2 wires that make it spin.
The third wire coming from the fan would be the Tach I assume.

Looks to me that the power lines are the yellow and black wires that go to the plugs, this is where the power supply would plug into the fan, so it makes sense.
Cut the 2 plugs off at the yellow and black wires, get rid of both of them. Now tie your wires from your transformer to these 2 wires, if it doesn't work or spins backwards, reverse the wires and see what happens.
I would cut far enough away from the plugs that you can reattach if needed. I believe this is how this is going to work, but i am not sure about the motherboard wires, these may tell it when to come on, so you may need to power it too.

theres a little 10 dollar adapter that you can get off ebay that has about 4 slots (i think) to connect fans and a speed knob for each of them.

I wanted to get one when i was growin in cabs but upgraded to bigger shit before i needed to.


ill look around for it and let you know what i can find.
