This guy I know, I refuse to smoke joints with him because he uses so much spit that the joint won't even burn right...
The first time I smoked a joint with him I said "Dude your weed aint dried right"....
Then the next joint I watched him roll it.. and I was like "ewwwwwwwweewwwwwwww" You know like Ernest P. Worrel, Ewwww???
I was like, er, uh, no thanks, I'll pass, that first joint man, got me ripped! =)

I think the idea is to fold the bag and not overfill.
That's after two days hanging.
W curing in jars you must burp to even moisture in the bud.
W curing in brown bag you don't need to open and close, The bag is permeable.

P.S.
I can say from my personal experience the slower the dry the smoother the smoke.
I find Leaving buds on the branch and not trimming sugar leaves during
the drying helps extend the total drying period.

The OP, cuz. He's not trying to simply re-hydrate in a quest for a smoother smoke, he wants mroe weight. The only reason for that, would be for sale, making him a worthless POS (if that is the case of course)

i had a similar issue. harvested some AK47 and trimmed right after cut, buds where dry 2 days later and smelled like mexican brick.
so on my next harvest i hung the whole plant, pulled the fan leaves and waited 5 days. manicured and placed straight into jars. burped for 3 days and added boveda 62% packs and continued burping. the difference was incredible like 2 different strains.
boveda packs are cheap too, got like a 12 pack for like $11 on ebay.
