I have my clones in a plastic container in the same room as the mother....can I induce budding simply by putting the lid on the plants for 12 hours a day and keep them in the same room

12 hours of darkness will induce flowering.
Ya I know but I'm wondering if the clones can be but in a bucket with a lid on it for the 12 yrs of darkness because they are in the same room as my mother plants. Or will this cut the airflow to the clones off to much

It will cause them to show sex if they haven't yet and transition to flowering yes, but putting them in a closed plastic container with no ventilation is risky as the humidity will rise quickly. It won't be suitable to do the entire flowering process.

If you got the space it would be better to set up a small area with some CFL/T5 to keep the mother alive.

And an intake hole on the other side, that would help yes. You will have to make a sort of tunnel on the intake and exhaust fan to block the light. Still not an ideal situation, do you have pics?

Depends how you do it and what size they are. Perfectly possible to create 12 hours of darkness by covering them without killing their air. Plenty of people force flowering outdoors by putting trash cans over their plants etc.

What about your light spectrum if you veg under 6500k trying to bud with the same spectrum is not going to give you the best bud

12 yrs. of darkness lol sounds like the title of a movie. Make sure your using containers that block light from getting through to the roots. If all you have is a white drywall bucket, paint it black.
