Im not going to waste my time reading this entire thread, however, I work for one of the largest electric companies in the USA and we have technicians who do random meter tests/upgrades access issue checks to your meter, and we get bonuses from police and our company if we can help bust people stealing power, specifically for marijuana. So A word to the wise, WE CAN TELL EXACTLY HOW MANY AMPS ARE BEING PULLED FROM OUR LINES AT ANY GIVEN TIME FROM SUBSTATION AND SOMETIMES NEIGHBORHOOD, IF THE NUMBERS DO NOT ADD UP TO THE AMT OF KWH'S BILLED FOR AN INVESTIGATION IS DONE. DO NOT DO THIS YOU WILL EVENTUALLY GET CAUGHT. Just trying to help.

I know how you can get caught! someone get your ip address from posting on an online forum, contact the local utilities and police and advise them you illegally steal power and grow marijuana, and then you'll be arrested. Stealing the electricity is a stupid thing to do.

If I had my way I would be off grid, funds do not allow that at this time. I appreciate the guys who actually go out and build/maintain the power grid, however like most corporations, the executives can all go jump off a fuking bridge. Yeah and my light bill is paid up in full, dickhead. be completely sure of your argument before you pursue it, or you may look like a jack ass.

Why do you "hate power companies"? Cos they allow you to cook your food? Grow pot indoors? Have a pc,lights,tv? Those dirty bastards, how dare they bring us out of the medieval times?!

Well Einstein, most cities around America now have digital electric meters as I do and have had for over 3 years. Your little trick will not only get one caught for theft and growing, but for most of the civilized world there is no such thing as a gear electric meter anymore. With Xcel and other larger electric providers, many of the new digital electric and gas meters are readable remotely and have tamper alarms on them.
Dumb f-ing post.

First off, you DO NOT work for any electric company. Second, technicians DO NOT perform RANDOM meter checks, EVER. The ONLY time meter checks happen is for four reasons; the monthly check for billing, an annual check for maintenance, a stealth check for unusually large electricity use(this type of check is issued by management or investigators not techs, it's usually done to an entire community or block, not a individual home)or if a warrant or request is issued by law enforcement. The electric companies nor ANY law enforcement, DO NOT give out bonuses to techs for helping to bust people stealing electricity. That is just not true.

Is this person who started this thread and his advice dumb? Yes, but you coming on here swinging your little cock around acting like a security guard is just as pathetic as the moron suggesting to steal electricity.

maybe they know, and they are watching, and writing down how much you have stolen so its a bigger and bigger charge? who knows
either way, why risk the added attention from the cops when you can just grow an extra plant, and sell it, and pay the bill, and not be a thief?

i mean shit, its just an electric bill. i still spend more /month on my girlfriends cellphone +long distance calling to everyone shes ever met...

Is it possible that the power company can compare the kW/hours (or whatever unit they use) that they have billed an area for, versus the actual draw on the grid in that area. If there is a discrepancy, then they could isolate the offending residence with more localised meters.
You sound like a moron purely because you don't know what capabilities the power companies have, and rather than informing yourself you brag about committing federal offenses on the internet.
"so fucking what can you do about it" - perhaps it isn't a priority of the power companies to follow up on these thefts. Perhaps they eventually pass the information on to agencies who may be interested in looking into the reasons for the theft.
If you're running 8x600w lights then you are obviously selling your produce. It seems sensible just to spend some of that profit on the power bill and reduce your exposure to prosecution.
If you conduct yourself similarly in real life, you're in some hot water.

if you want to steal power, IT MUST be done before the meter where the connection cannot be seen, even better, under ground.

Oh gee, he only created modern electricity, franklin found DC current which has distance limitations, Tesla discovered AC current, the very foundation all modern systems are based on.
And we have been experiment more with his theory that you can beam or transfer energy with out wires. He had many theories, some of which he did prove.

I never bitched about paying for anything, I just dont agree with their business practices.

6kw an hour computes to over 10 x 50" plasma tvs on for 18 hours per day in a home.

they have been abler to pinpoint electric power leakage since the sixties, hence the need for smart meters.
the sm/meters tell them the power usage and even if they have been switched off by someone to cut in to the supply.
but i dont give a fuck who you work for but i tell you something it is not for any electric company, if it is, you are probably the meter reader sent out to do the donkey work.

well idk about europe but i live in america and here, THEY CAN DO THAT. they have power boxes supplieing each individual zip code, sometimes 2 for a single code, that measures all power being pulled threough it into the surronding neighborhoods. if they have a prolonged case where the amount paid is not matching up with the amounts pulled, even for say $500, they will send inspectors to begin testing the wattage pull on all individual wires. eventually theyll narrow it down to the wire in your street, then inspect it and see where you have branched off to your grow area.

SO ANYBODY THINKING OF DOING THIS IS STILL A DUMBASSS. POWER COMPANIES WILL KEEP THERE MOUTH SHUT IF YOU JUST PAY. REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY WATTS YOU PULL. THERE GREEDY ASS FUCKS AS BEEN STATED. THEY WILL ONLY TELL THE POLICE IF THEY THINK YOUR STEALING. OTHERWISE ALL EVIDENCE IS CIRCUMSTANTIAL AND ADDS UP TO NOTHING HARD
