how to reduce my cig smokes effect on plants

Like many of you, I am addicted to cigarettes.
And unfortunately the only place I can safely grow is in my closet. Granted I can go to other places of my house to smoke cigarettes, its the convenience factor that keeps me in my room. Plus the fact that I'm stoned half the day and I just plain old don't realize it til I have already lit one up.
So here is the question at hand. What can I CHEAPLY do to help negate the effects of the second hand smoke on my girls. Because I know its terrible for them. I have heard of Active Carbon. yes/no? Any other ideas? I usually keep the closet door shut but not always.

Please dont tell me to quit smoking cigs all around . Please dont tell me to smoke cigs in other places. please dont tell me to install some highly sophisticated equipment that I dont have money for.

:roll:Just a thought....Keep doing what you are doing....the results will be the same....If you REALLY cared about the health of your girls, you wouldn't be stressing them out like that anyway. would you blow cigarette smoke into a helpless infants mouth? BTW I am also a smoker, so i'm not gonna tell you to quit. But this is how i feel about it.... I have too much time and money invested in my garden to let it be anything less than perfect. So you have two choices #1 fuck the damn plants and light up! or #2 wait a couple mins to light up a cig. Kinda a "no brainer"https://www.rollitup.org/images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
Also, you might try watering your plants with draino or lighting the leaves on fire...just for fun.

Has there been any studies showing that it has any real effect? Ive seen studies where plants do react negatively, but I wonder if it really matter just smoking in the room. I would imagine as long as they aren't subjected to directed smoke 24/7 I don't see the harm.

Just a thought. I think sometimes these warnings are a little extreme and require insane amounts of _____

come on dude.....really? you don't think a little carbon monoxide's gonna hurt em? go run a hose from the tailpipe of your car inside the car with you. breathe deep, and let me know how it goes, k?

That was kind of my point. As long as you aren't chain smoking into a hose feeding directly into the cabinet he should be fine.

No need to get nasty friend :peace:

Certain plants are actually more sensitive to cigarette smoke. Tomatoes being one of the most sensitive. But i gotta ask ya, " Why would you want to do anything that might stress your plants?" Especially when he can smoke anywhere else in the house.

fishboy, you forget I am asking how to negate the smokes effect. like hanging active carbon bags on the inside closet door. I did not ask to be ridiculed. I know to an extent its bad. So if you don't have anything to share on how to lessen the effects on the plants, please post elsewhere. thank you.

Dont worry about it, Jesus, plants grow outdoors in urban areas with literally hundreds of thousands of cars fumes, you think a few whifs of seriously diluted cigarette smoke is gonna damage your plants? Sure you filter most of the bad shit out of the smoke anyways ;)

i dont think you should worry about it. unless you are smoking inside the closet with the plants. theres no harm really being done.

even if, the only thing I could think that would truly make a difference if it mattered, would be a fully sealed closet, with a hepa filter/intake fan.

Matticus408,
I apologize. So with all sarcasm aside, Here is my reply- There are options. An ionic air purifier (expensive & won't get rid of the carbon monoxide) Have your plants shown any signs of stress? If so, I'd say it's prolly something else. If not, then don't worry about it. The levels prolly arent high enough to do any real damage.

I smoke around my plants all the time. They grow fine. I was at a fellow growers house the other day he had a guy working on his set up. "real plant nerd" He busted my balls for smoking. We juwst looked at him and said never seen any damage from smoking. He fully admits no knowing much about growing mj. But a good rule of thumb is not to smoke around plants.

Smoking inside is never a good idea for you or the plants, you should go smoke outside, that will have many benefits. First it will make you smoke less because you have to take the time and energy to go outside and back, cold/hot weather will also slow you down from smoking since its never pleasant smoking in very hot/cold conditions (unless your a nut like me, i dont care if it rains or snows, i gots to go when i gots to go). Your plants will be happier for it, your house wont smell like crap, you might be able to get that deposit back from your landlord if you are renting, your guest and friends will enjoy a better smelling home, you wont have to paint your walls yellow to cover up the nicotine LoL :)...Just go outside its the only way to go. Am a smoker too and that is what i do.
