How to slow dry cannabis for 2-3 months?!

Hello and welcome to all.

To be straight to the point:
I want to harvest my almost fully mature autos in near future just before I leave town for 3 months. My dilemma is that I will have to leave them completely unattended for a minimum of 2-3 months. I know that you can dry whole plants a max of 1 month (depending on conditions). Then you jar them up and start the curing process.
I don't have that oppurtunity to tend to them for at least 2 months. So my question is this:

Whats the best way to slow dry cannabis for good taste and potency while being able to leave it completely unattended for at least 2 months?? Can you slightly seal buds in paper bags? Or can you hang them as whole plants unventilated, at lower temps, in a tent out of bed sheets in a dark room? Prolonged exposure to air degrades THC, so can I just leave buds in paper bags for 2 months without risking mold?

It would be a shame to not harvest properly after all time invested, if you can get past the initial drying ( hanging buds ) would help in avoiding mold, and then can bag them and hope for the best, no one to watch while gone

If your able to, hang dry them for a week, then put in jars but don't seal the lids all the way down.

Harvest early enough to dry them before you leave. Then a paper bag or a cardboard box with a top and a few holes in the sides should be fine, I would think.

Tough question here, don't see any means of accomplishing this w/o risking either mold or an overdry.

In Malawi, the farmers still wrap bud in banana leaves and bury in the ground...only it's already dried.

Thanks to everyone for the input so far.

What if I hang whole plants inside a metal frame 2m high x 1m wide x 0.3m deep. Basically, a rectangular prism shaped tent 0.6 m^3 covered with a bed sheet. Minimal air circulation, yet plenty of space for buds. Temperatures around 15*C-20*C (60*F-70*F), relative humidity high, far high window tilted in 5 degrees to create a narrow vent with outside air, dark room. Won't this significantly slow down the drying process?

I have gotten some great cures from hanging the buds for 1 month in a cardboard box. Get a long/tall box, put bamboo stakes or the like through the sides so when you look inside they are like you would see in a closet. Then just hang the buds so they don't touch. The cardboard seems to keep the humidity at about 50% and they take about a month to finish. I leave a slight crack open with the doors that open but very slight. This keeps them dark, no mold ever for me and resulted in some great smoke.

Cannabis should be dry in 4 to 10 days maximum. If your product is dry, you can seal it up to cure, for as long as you like. Dry time and cure time though, are 2 different things... Extending the dry time beyond the norm for the strain, will tend to make it more potent, but you will lose flavor by doing that.

Hey man,

I was considering doing something like that. Can you please draw a simple diagram about the bamboo sticks. I didn't get that part. What was your room/ cardboard box temperature when you dried for 1 month?
