The same thing Brian O'dea did... and every other BM dealer has done.
By seeling seeds to those who wanted to grow rec weed or needed to grow med weed, Emery supported the cause. He made money doing it, yes. Nothing wrong with that. And thatcis just the start.
When HC finally made weed exemptions for near death patients in 2001 it was because of guys like Emery, who "normalized" weed. By making it more mainstream and available he made it less "diabolical" to conservative minded people... the people with the power to make legislative changes to allow for it.
That medical program eventually grew to other illnesses because the conversation was already started. 15 years later very, very few people do not know that weed has medicinal qualities.
By the same token, every BM dealer did the same thing for rec weed, whether it was their intention or not. Yes they made money and a lot of it, but they stuck their necks out and as a result, after so many years, weed is now mainstream. They were the trailblazers for legalization. All these guys... and the biggest of them all is Brian O'dea.
And if you dont know that name... well... if you ever bought BM weed anywhere in Cananda chances are you bought it off him, ultimately.
The irony here is the the BM has brought about legalization and now they are a detriment to it. But that doesnt mean we should not be grateful to those pioneers....
Afterall, if it wasnt for families like the Sleemans, the Seagrams, the Molsons, the Kennedys... booze would probably still be illegal.
