how to tell female seeds from male seeds

I'd hardly say it's conclusive. Even Wikipedia mentions that there are male identifying DNA aspects to cannabis yet a complete karyotype hasn't been conducted since 1996.

On the other hand, it mentions what we know about chemicals playing a role in shaping the sex of cannabis plants one wah or another.
Yeah conclusive was a bad word choice. But we know there are signs of genetics and environment influence. But definitely no way to tell by looking at seeds.

Agreed. I certainly think there is a genetic aspect to it though. I have definitely seen straight male and female flowers on three different plants from the same seed stock. Planted other beans from different stock at the same time and didn't have that problem. I'd definitely lean towards genetics being the primary means of sex despite environmental applications demonstrating a peripheral role.

If there was some secret to taking any old bean stock from female plant x male plant and always hitting 90% female out of the park, there would be no need for having good males. Shit, nature would just have eliminated males if that were the case (I suppose it could be taking place but evolutionary time frames are so large as we know).

Eta: I would wonder based on survival of a species such as cannabis if it favored more female plants over male as fewer males are needed to ensure survival of the species due to the ability to pollinate so many females.
