how to top??

Hey all! I'm on my 5th week in a cfl grow and my babies are looking good! My only worry is that they look a bit stringy. They are about 10 inches tall but very skinny. My question is should I top them and what's the best way to do this?

Your thin plant may be the cause of bad air circulation (may need a fan?) and a good meathod i used for topping would be this one... https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/151706-uncle-bens-topping-technique-get.html

Thanks for the info on uncle Ben's! Iv had a pretty good sized fan on them since birth, plus this is my first grow ever so I'm learning!!

i have 6 on 2 plants, they are 5000k 27w (daylight) and i think 2700lumens? not sure though. they sit no more than 2in from the plants. right now they are on a 18-6 sched

You prob' know this already,but try to keep them as close to the plant as poss'.This should help with the stretching.Im on my 3rd grow at the mo,but its my first using cfls.I have a 250w maxibrite on top and 6x20watters all around on 1 plant,she is in her 5th week of flower at the mo and doing pretty well.the lights are off now but if want i will up load a couple pics on this thread to show you how i have them posistioned.The best way to learn is to help eachother.As for the topping,the uncle bens is one of the best ive seen.

now that i look at it again this lil thang looks super sativa. Anyone else think so? That might explain the slow growth but it could be any number of things.

Damn it feels good to grow something so pretty! Haha.. will satIva plant outgrow my closet? Interested in that lowrider strain, want to stick with a shorter plant, anybody ever tried it? Hey chow I'm always down for looking at plant pics!

Here they are letitgrow77,as you can see,i have my big 250w on top and the 20watters all around,its hard to belive but i switched to 12/12 when this was 20 days old from seed,my tent is 5 feet tall and i have about 6 inches of head room left

hey killer! I had to seperate 2 of them a couple of days ago, root system was massive, now they are starting to grow. Woke up this morning and it was the first time i actually HAD to move the lights. SHE is getting there :)

hey chow, your cfl's are different than mine, wondering if im using the wrong kind of light here. I just have the daylight, 5000k 3 per plant. I have all bulbs within an inch or 2 of each plant..Killer, any ideas on why it may be so small? I water them abou every 2-3 days or when they need it, spray leaves every morning, always chatting with them!

Im using 2700k for flowering,but i like to add a few 6000k into the mix as they still grow while flowering.You want to be using 6000k for vegging and 2700k for flowering.Like rastadoor said,it could be the strain,Sativa do take longer to grow but it could a number of things.The main thing is that they look healthy.You could try adding a few more bulbs in there and see how you get on..

Also it really stinks,even during vegging but i managed to get a ouder nutralising block that realy works well.
