OK. I was using CFL's, and i still will for side growth where the HPS wont reach. I bought a 70 watt HPS security light to aid in overall growth and of course flowering. Plants are fine, I just need some assistance in wiring this light. Here's the link to the light. http://www.lowes.com/pd_102355-337-HPSF70K_0_?productId=3136063&Ntt=70%20watt%20hps%20security%20light&Ntk=i_products&pl=1&currentURL=/pl__0__s?Ntk=i_products$rpp=15$No=15$Ntt=70%20watt%20hps%20security%20light$identifier=

It has three cords coming out the end. one white, one black, one copper ground. I used a male end 3 prong computer power cord spliced the end, this cords colors are white, black, and green. I got it to turn on by plugging black to black, white to white, and then green to the ground. only problem is that it will go off and on and then after about half and hour it just stays off, help please!

The Lowes site is down right now. You have it wired correctly, according to your post. Does it by chance have a photocell? A lot of security lights do. If so, cover it.

Hmm, the site is up now an it dosent seem to have a photo cell?
The wireing is stright forward, white to white, black to black, green to green or ground.
Did it come with a ballast? If not i think it might need one.
Or it was bad?
Take an exchange it for another one?

I'm not bashing your thread here.. or your setup. But, I must say... why didn't you just spend the money for a REAL HPS system thats actually made specifically for growing??

Your just asking for a fire trying to wire up a security light.. just not a good idea.

You can get a 150watt HPS light kit, that comes with bulb, ballast, and the housing. Plus, its all put together when it arrives at your door step.

I bought two 150watt HPS lights.. and I paid like $175 for both of them. They're only about $85 bucks per unit.

Either way, good luck. Hope your shit doesn't catch fire.. ;)

If you know how to wire it properly (if you aren't half retarded you can do this with ease) there is no chance of fire
ganjaluvr has absolutely no idea what he is talking about, the 150w HPS lights he is speaking of are used for security lights all the time
Almost as often as 70w HPS are used

Seriously a fire? I think I learned how to wire electricity when I was like 12 years old. If you cant re-wire a plug, indoor growing isn't for you because at some point in time you will have to wire something up.
