How Will Cold Temperatures Affect My Grow???

The temps are starting to drop where I am, especially at night.

I'm half way through flowering and now the temps are starting to drop to around 0 to -2 at night. When my lights are on during the day the temp stays around a constant 27 to 30 degrees celcius, and I can keep it that way, but at night when the lights are off it drops down pretty low. This started about a week and a half to two weeks ago. The temperature suddenly dropped.

How will this affect my grow?

Unfortunately, that's not possible as I don't have enought space in my grow room for that.

I was thinking of getting one of those pet heating blankets that they sleep on. I would put it under the pots to try and keep them warm.

Do you think that would work or at least help?

can you run it in the room outside the box? that will raise temps and lower humidity

I've gotten some advice on this thread, thank you Ripz. But I haven't had any answers about how it will affect my crop in any way.

Does anyone have any answers for me?

yes, that should do the trick me thinks. Heat rises so you will be gently warming the soil as well as creating ambient heat for the tops.

if the temps drop too much at lights off it will slow growth try to keep the temps just below light on temps but you can let them drop a little more in the last week or so to bring out colour etc.

weed stops growing below +10C. This does not mean ill effects. Just that production has ceased, and will start up again above +10C.

i had this problem literally weeks ago, mine started to go purple around the edges and that was it, it didn't spread to the buds, i've smoked my crop (first ever-very pleased) and there was no bad taste or anything. i got paranoid about it thinking they wud die but they never. bang a bit of insulation up, even if its just bubblewrap it'll help. also, keep your house warm in general. happy smoking stavros.

sorry but is that not why we strive for perfect conditions indoors to beat the laws of nature and produce as much high quality herb as possible?

do you run your lights at night its always colder when its dark out

dark period should be during the day so you can use the heat from the light at night

i have 2 things i use 1# a electric radiator space heater and a small propane tourch which i don't suggest unless conditions allow, my grow room is cynderblock and concreat so thers nuthin to catch on fire and it acts as a co2 generator in sure you have seen one b4

Sounds good to me... never meant low temps were optimal, merely that it will not adversely affect the plants, that's all.

Don't worry....
The plants will be fine... they just slow.... like suspended anamation... every day they re-warm, and continue to start the growth process...
Good luck, I think they will be ok...

If the temps are below 40 then growth slows right down - at least that's what the books say. My guess would be that it would reduce your yield a fair bit and also potentially prevent them from ripening properly (I'm basing that on my experience with outside grows where the temps fell early in the year).
