you can use either for a quck fix. But plants respond better to high k lights for veg and low k for flower. The reason that mh will give better bud at flower is that the uv light the metal halide will put out will force the plant to make resin. Resin is like sunscreen. Cool, huh? Anyway the glass most grow hoods use will filter out this uv light sadly, unless it is quartz glass. Although using metal halide enough gets through to make a diference. So supplemental uv light will give you more resin and thus better buds but yeild will be lower as it needs the red spectrum to gor proper. Thats PROPER, not at all, you be fine. If you are going to clone the girl the stretching the hps will cause in veg will help you there!
Thats more or less accurate......strain (variety) has much to do with THC content.....where the resin contains more of the cannabinoids which are contained in minute quantities and have more to do with the effects of the high rather than the potency of the high.......I see it said, over and over, that added UV-b light will produce extra resin - I agree. That's the good news! The bad news is that resin makes you cough and THC gets you high. Resin doesn't = potency - that's just a myth!
I have not been able to find any credible source that indicates that the THC level will be deffinately increased (potency added) by the use of extra UV-b lighting. So, that might be a myth too (but frosty nugs sure do look cool, don't they?
I would be glad to hear from anybody with serious research that indicates otherwise.
Not all of us use hoods with glass...It's always been considered taboo where I come from.
this is what changed my mind... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPcpt3Be28oI see it said, over and over, that added UV-b light will produce extra resin - I agree. That's the good news! The bad news is that resin makes you cough and THC gets you high. Resin doesn't = potency - that's just a myth!
