hps help

Hi i need some help i am going to try growing indoors in my closet and need some advice i am buying a 400watt hps to use that and i am wondering what all i should use with it and how many plants im able to grow i really only want to start with 2 and see how that works im wondering how many fans how far away should the light be and any other advice would really help thks

You definitely will want a cool tube set-up along with a carbon filter and inline fan. Without other info its hard to give you exact advice......do some research in the grow set-up area.

If heat is a issue, carbon filter inline fan and cool tube is required.
If heat isn't a issue, I still advice odor control (inline fan & carbon filter)
you could do 4 plants easily I would think
how many fans and light distance depends on how hot it is

I couldn't find the thread, but there was a fella on here a couple years ago that was running a 400w in a cool'ed reflector. He had this built into a cabinet like you'd see in your garage. The inside was lined completely with mylar, and he used a parabolic screen to maximize/control the canopy. With 2 plants in a DYI DWC set ups he was regularly pulling 10 oz from a single 400.

Ok cool thks yea ill go look at the grow setup stuff and im not really worried about the oder control because my house isnt that close to others and my closet is around 3' long 2' deep and 7' tall and i have 2 6" inline fans you think that would be good and how big of pots should i use im trying to get the most i can in a closet lol i know its not going to be anything like what i was pulling outside and what do you guys think about cfls ive heard couple good things but you need alot of them or should i just stick with the hps

If you don't worry about odor control... Your whole house and maybe even outside will smell super crazy. I would worry about it. What's to say you won't need the cable man or something to come in.. Or what if cops knock on your door? You open it they are gonna smell it hell they might be able to smell it standing at the door. I strongly advise to address smell. If you get a cool tube, you can kill two birds with one stone... Do the filter first, ducting , then the fan, the ducting to cool tube, then more ducting from the other side venting to wherever u want. It takes away smell, plus gets rid of heat from your hps...and also, hps will yield more then cfl.

A cool tube doesn't require a carbon filter. The cool tube is to cool the light down. When you get a inline Fan and filter, you hook that up to the cool tube so you don't need to buy another fan just for the cool tube, you save costs and kill odor and heat from the light at the same time.
