HPS KILLER Grow Journal

DB most journals on here when it comes to showing off a new light what happens in closed doors stay hidden n closed doors being yeah i take 99 percent of all journals of new lights at a grain of salt show pictures of Cob light add HPS to the equation when know one is looking take pictures of plants week later claiming look at the growth lol its all BS at the end of the day and very bias
Its Very hard to compete with DE units on the market i do not care what anyone says ..
It will always come down to overall power consumption but again or many that are not tight wads its meaningless
As for me i own Nannolux lighting and will never look back @ 3 pounds dry per light is outstanding and only cost me 420 bucks for the unit with a medium yielding strain ?? Give me a stupid Yielder and i could make nanno lux look like the light that destroys everything on the market
Yeah I run lec, led and de, I have the hard to kill AC/DE hood so I run some hps too.Lately I've been curious as to how they will perform on their own and will be doing the room with the ac/de on a rail and an lec and led tent.

oh I see the post explaining that now. whyt the a51s in that small an area?
It's a 4x4 figured couldn't go wrong with 700w in a 4x4. So far I'm pretty damn happy with it. I'm sure they would cover more of an area but all I have at the moment

The problem with 700 watt in 16 Sq feet is that its bare min of what 37.5 watts per sq foot and with that said sir and i am not trying to start anything but when looking at your first picture on this thread ???

And may-be some experienced growers will chime in will agree by looking at stem , of your so called week old plant i take it from clone ????
looking at the stem ,, that sir is not a 1 week old plant more like 3 week or even older.. TBH my honest opinion is these plants were grown for 3 weeks under T5 or what have you .. then placed under these cobs and said this is one week under cobs etc ,
I have grown 100,000 's of plants of different strains under different lights from 8000 watt rooms 2 - 3 " clones to 700 plants under T5's and grown for a period of time etc and your not going to have stalks like yours only after 1 week :) sorry dude so how are we to believe any thing past that is true just saying ..
other then that plants are looking good but i question actual true age as in weeks

amazing!!! they have grown so much, I thought mine were doing very good under the cobs, obviously I have a lot to learn,I'm very impressed how many times did you top them?LST?or do you just train them under the screen, how tall is the screen?

I started over 30 years ago with parabolic hoods and when the day comes to hang up growing i my last grow will be parabolic hoods

37.5W/sqft [dissipation]* 55% efficiency = 20.63W/sqft [PAR].

To get that same 20.63W/sqft of PAR with a fresh 1000W mogul HPS, you'd need 57.29W/sqft. That's with a fresh bulb. You're looking at the power dissipated per area rather than the power of light output per area.

Initial startup cost may make HPS a better choice commercially for most, but cxb is a superior light in terms of efficiency. (power out/power in)

Another point for the cobs is that you can basically fit something slightly better than a gavita (which has an efficiency of around 42%) into a small hobbyist tent.

They were in the cloner for 2 weeks. I take BIG cuts. Seem to take a little longer to root but worth the wait. I got them from my other setup at my buddies place. They were under a t5 in a aero cloner. I can tell you that without a doubt that was a one week veg in my set up. Dp you use beneficials? That has really made the difference for me this run. Started running recharge from the dude grows show and I've never seen anything grow like that.

I topped them probably 4 times every top branch and every couple of days bend them all out nice and even. I broke a few off here and there but still well worth the hassle. They are little bushes for sure.

Flipped the diy tent today and put up the screen to keep a nice and even canopy. Will post an update later in the week. Screen is 3/4 full and my cut of gsc isn't a huge stretcher but she likes to double up come flip so well see how she goes! Pumped to see what the light does. Cranked it up to 400w and will up it as the week goes on until it's maxed out

Experimenting with foliar spraying grow more bio cozyme which I've heard slows stretch. Which will help with this stretchy og phenotype. I'll see how well it works.

Little update just a couple of pics of the screen filling in. Growing super quick right now, right in the middle of stretch. Figure another 10 days of stretch before flowers start showing . 5 cuts of the Girl Scout and one cut of DNAs Holy Grail in the back right corner. Now running full blast as well until the flush. Will probably back of off a little the last week.

good job,do you think you are on track to meet your weight, or still too early to tell,at this stage do you think its better than hps, same,or lagging? still looks sweeeeet no matter what

So far pretty happy a little early to tell but it's covering the whole space nice and evenly which I never had with a single 1000w in a 5x5. Update coming soon

update: everything is going great. running on drippers with coco. simple yet effective. Filling out the screen nicely and a fairly even canopy. Soon it will show flowers and we will be on our way! Super excited about whats to come and also what the light has done so far. Running at 600w full steam ahead. Here are some recent pics

Yea their looking great. Nice and bushy lots of tops. No deficiencies at all that I can see. First time in coco and I'm impressed with the growth and how easy it is.

Aw man you'll never break two pounds. Not with legit GSC.... unless you know my secret! The light, mind you, I'm very impressed by. Great workmanship man, that thing will crush a thowie, and if it doesn't, I can tell you from experience, take the lenses off and either run them bare or with a reflector. You really don't have to worry much about intensity on a quantum meter spread, as long as you're flooding your space with photons and encapsulating them, which your tent will do quite nicely. Alllllright, now the cookie secret. You ready? About 4 weeks into flower, right before they start to bulk, cut WAY back on the CalMag or if you're using Jack's 3-2-1 like most of us disciples, skip or skimp on the epsom salt. For some reason, cookie strains' iconic thumbnail bud structure is determinate on a partial magnesium lockout late in flower. This really will put the bulk back into the nugs and you can expect more of the parental GDP structure. Basically turning GSC into a sherbet cut, with about a 20% accompanying yield hike over unmitigated calmag use. It's night and day man, and less work for a hard working sombitch like yourself, you handsome light building sombitch. Merry Christmas homie, you got this shit sleepwalkin.

And another thing most people don't consider in the cost calculus, the mini-split. I have 20 cxb3070s running at 1400mA with active cooling and my drivers located outside my tent and nothing but a 6 inch vortex half-cocked exhausting into the same room as the intake. In a 4*8, never broken 77 degrees and 50% humidity with my heat running full tilt all winter in a freakin tent. My panel is also dimmed in phases by a Storm Controller but only 10% on one string at a time (totally recommend picking one up here if you're using B series HLG drivers with the 10V control leg: http://www.rapidled.com/coralux-storm-led-controller-with-10v-analog-converter/). And what is a cheap mini split? Like a cold $1000 uninstalled for a 3/4 ton unit that you'd absolutely need if not for the fact that my 60% efficient 1000 watts is doing the job of 2 30% efficient 1000w hoods with 50% less heat dissipation. I built my panel for $1300 and 2g/w has gone down twice now without a hitch or a CO2 burner, and will for the next 10 freakin years before these slump and I have to swap some chips. So one gavita: $475w/bulb x2 +$1000 for the minisplit, then power for the minisplit on top of another KW... well it doesn't take a genius. HPS is already dead, currently my company is converting Green City Growers Cooperative (indoor hydro lettuce, about $1M/year in revenue) to COBs. Commercial agro's waking up with the rest of us, but there will always be Luddites and naysayers. But hell man, let them eat cake, they'll flex a pretty wet Benz, we'll flex a far wetter Aston.

I've been thinking about taking off the lenses to get more light to the outer, 6 inches of the canopy and lowering it as well. Maybe I will do that. But also I want to do a run with lenses then see what the difference is for myself. Appreciate the kind words brotha I'm already super impressed with the light. And your right about the cookies. Straight up lanky with little nuggets all over her. I'll give the calmag thing a shot. I've run her under hps many times so I know her pretty well. I usually get about a p from a 600. She's defo not a yielder but she's fire
