Thank you. I appreciate it. I never even knew they existed until today. Definitely seeing the advantages. More of an initial outlay, but it IS an investment.

There are a tooooon of HPS light brands. I see alot have mixed reviews on amazon.
Im looking for a 600 watt or 1000 watt digital HPS with a hood that has air cooling holes.

So far i would only trust my good old buddies at HTG supply or on amazon i might try VIVOSUN.

anyone ever had the digtial HPS from VIVOsun
IMG_20190324_195924_292.jpg I'm using yield lab and it's probably the cheapest HPS gear you can get your hands on and I'm quite happy with it

It is but at the same time the bulbs typically last 3-4 the time. So you spend about the same over 4 years. You also save a lot in power costs, looking for the report i read but i think migro did a test and power consumption on cmh vs its hps equivalent so 315W vs 500 or 600W hps you end up using around 60% more power through hps and in the long run it was a cost difference of a few hundread a year British pounds

the only thing i dont like from those sites is that i cant work in my garden while the CMH light is on. I like doing that and dont wanna work in the dark with a headlamp personally.

I run both magnetics and digital. I've been running one of the mag ballast for over seven years and it keeps on chuggin'. It may be because I have more digital ballast than mags, but I've had more failures with the digital's.

The only beef I have with magnetic ballast is they don't mount on a wall, at least very well, like the digitals do......and are relatively fuckin' heavy.
mag ballasts can also cause radio and cable tv interference, which could lead to inconvenient visits from cable tv guys looking for the interference they know is coming from this very specific area...
