So I was at home depot today and they have a 30 watt HPS. I was wondering do you need a ballast for that? I don't plan on growing with it just curious.
HPS no ballast?

I have never seen an HID bulb capable of running without a ballast. Metal Halide (not those hot halogen bulbs which are useless for our purposes) or HPS. Not saying there isn't but I am not aware of one.
