yeah for sure it is...ive heard of growers getting real fat stocks that way.....might have a lil more stretch than a MH but prolly more explosive growth

i only used my HPS once for 2 weeks before i flipped em , they did stretch a lil more than usual but the branching was wild

I just setup my 1000 HPS tonight, for my first time vegging under HID. These are going from T8 fluoros, to 1000 watts, tomorrow night. Wish me luck....

^Ha, I have Master Kush growing too, but idk which ones are which, because the idiots at Nirvana, mixed all my seeds together, and didn't label them(I bought 2 feminized indoor mixes).lol I'd look into supercropping, if I were you, it's more effective than topping,(IMO) if you're looking to maximize yield, per plant. I do something I call "bending", as well, instead of topping, and it works great. Basically, instead of cutting off the top, you bend it over and tie it to the main stem with a twist tie, and then all the side branches take off. You''ll end up with 6-12+ main tops, instead of 2 or 4, that you get from topping. Plus, you release the one you tied, once the side branches shoot up, and then ya still have your main top, too.

@ which height should I start bending?

I usually do mine at about 6" tall, with 8 nodes or so. That gives ya plenty of lower branches to rise up to the canopy. Some may grow faster than the rest, so you can bend those over for a couple days, and the rest will catch up. The trick, is keeping all the tops at about the same heigth, it really helps yield. When it comes time to flower, you can use string or something, to pull the tops apart, making the plant wider, allowing the light to penetrate better. I averaged about 3 ozs per plant, last time I used this method, with plants that all finished just under 2' tall. Again,...I used LST to keep the tallest shoots down level with the rest of the canopy. Don't use bending during flowering, switch to LST if you need to control heigth. It doesn't stress them.

I'm fairly new to supercropping, but after seeing some awesome results, i'm gonna experiment this grow. I'll be bending first, then switch. Okay, it's after 5AM, i"m off to bed.....lol

I did my whole grow under a 150watt hps and my babies are huge. 7+ weeks into flower now, they were started 8/4 and they are almost done. 5+ feet in a closet 2 plants. Hps all the way through is the way to go.
