Humboldt Seed Company (HSC) Thread

I wanted to know if there is the possibility to buy packets of regular seeds of 20 in Europe. Those of Humboldt seed company Europe are of 10, and they cost a little less... Also, a doubt arises, are they the same seeds? or are they produced in Spain for the European market?

even the packaging is slightly different... it would be nice to know if they are only packaged or reproduced in Spain.

Week 3: Curing the OG Kush, update. Smells are very earthy and pinesol-lemony. I smoked some yesterday, it’s good now. I enjoy it, burns pretty even and white ash. Gonna keep curing but now I enjoy it.

size comparison: wide mouth jar lid.
I don’t really like to put too much emphasis on trimming. I do it all myself. I can get through a lot in a few hours and a sick podcast/music playlist.
I’m having fun with this next run, got 2 Garlic Budders, 1 Purple Panty Dropper, 1 Hella Jelly, 1 Kernel Swabi by M.M.S., 1Anaphylaxis by M.M.S, a S1 i made of this clone I was given some years back. Then a tomato and pepper for fun. :bigjoint:

I've seen other breeders like freeborn selections mention strains that were either only tested for outdoors or outdoor only and I think this is probably why, maybe tapering the light down to 12 instead of the more traditional flip would help prevent any sacs.

When I grew it, the bud from the Jelly was good and it washed really well but for some reason I just never fell in love with it. I found it to be a really practical grow, though, not super stretchy, flowers pretty quickly, yields were good.

Fyi, I had no problems with herming with my indoor LED grows of HSC's Blueberry Muffin, Collie Man Kush, Trainwreck, Purple Panty Dropper, Hella Jelly, Mountaintop Mint, or Don Carlos.
Yeah, I've flipped magic melon, hi-biscus, and Caramel cream as well without issue, and I've seen plenty of folks grow their stuff indoors without issue, but I do think it's worth being vigilant about if you're flipping 18>12 for anything you haven't worked with before, regardless of breeder

Be sure to read the descriptions also, HSC warns of strains like Pound Cake being herm prone, even though they worked with a pheno that showed no such display they still declare it as a possibility.
Anything related to wedding cake is a risk. I've seen grows of Seed Junky's own wedding cake seeds where every female plant hermed.

Some strains are like that, (White Truffle comes to mind too) sometimes it's inadequate testing, and sometimes the breeder never intends to stabilize the strain, they're essentially being sold as pheno hunt seeds and if you want one that doesn't herm you'll need to hunt it and work with cuts of it.

Keep in mind HSC does all their breeding outdoors, and IMO a huge majority of their customers probably grow indoors. . .. if a strain grown outdoors doesn't exhibit herming or nanners, it may still do so indoors, and/or vice versa
Yes they disclose this Thats why iam checking back in. By the way i went from 18-12 over 6 days to go easy on them.

Wedding Cake, yep that was the one. I stand corrected

Well pound cake is a wedding cake cross so I don't think you said anything wrong. Same with blueberry cupcake or any other popular strain like ice cream cake.

It probably helps, but it's really hard to mimic the seasonal change in light that's only a few minutes a day. I've been growing in a greenhouse tent over the winter and my timer doesn't even have increments below 15 minutes, so I would have to settle for one notch every three days or something.

It's different when you're intentionally trying to flower them, but when I've tried to taper things down to the outside light cycle while keeping them in veg to let me transplant them outside I've never had any luck, although we only really get like 14.5 hrs of daylight + 30-45 minutes of twilight on either side of that where I am. Either way, it's good that you let folks know.

WE'VE GOT BUSH!! Mtn Top Mint. Stoked to have this back in the garden, such a great strain. This seedpack, for some reason, exhibited some Freakshow-esque qualities so I'm excited to see what she does.

Also dropped a Nutter Budder as part of my "Peanut Butter Breath Exploration" series, I currently have access to four versions of PBB if you include this one, or 3 if we leave this out because it's more a cross than actual PBB.

just ordered: Gazzurple, Poddy Mouth and Pistachio for the outdoor season. The breeder's description indicates for all three strains a finish time of mid-October at the latest, good outdoor performance and mold resistance. I hope to find something nice... in the meantime I'm looking for photos or growth reports for these lines

That's from HSC Europe, yes?

Instagram and here are the only places I follow regarding Humboldt Seed Company. There is a Facebook group if you're into that kind of thing. It's not very active[lol] but a good amount of folks in there have grown just about everything. The three you listed are fairly new offerings with Gazzurple being the latest so probably not much out there yet. Grow Diaries might be another place to check.

HSC has official distribution in Europe and the packs are half-size, I saw on Instagram they were just at spannabis showing off seeds.
I had read that somewhere but I knew many people who ran into the Humboldt Seed Organization & Humboldt Seed Company ordeal and they are same names but different packages and descriptions so I thought maybe that was it.

On the herm traits that could always be recessive traits popping up right ? It takes a ton of selection's and many generations sometimes to knock out the bad but their head breeder isn't an impressive one and I love Nate and Haley so no intentional hate on my end. Alot of these gelato and cookies line's are cursed with herm's hidden and until flowering you never know. Also you have to ease into the high ppfd and not over soak the pots oh and not letting the night temps swing too low. They are temperamental for sure.
