Humidifier/de-humidifier ?

i wanted to ask is it necessary to have a Humidifier/de-humidifier for a small grow tent 3’x3’x4’11” or is it possible to get by with out using them in the tent... i'm on a budget but i already have everything to start growing soon just wanna find out about needing Humidifier/de-humidifier or not let me know Thanks

Id say if not in the tent then at least in the room the tent is pulling from, the humidity around me was crazy this year and just about everyone had problems with bud rot on outdoor plants and that will be a lot easier to stop from happening if you manage to keep your humidity from getting too high. It could go up pretty quick in a tent

Well i actually haven't been using either, but I do have one of my exhausts venting outside and it's really dry here. Plus my house is a little drafty. I did run a dehumidifier during flower the first grow before I started venting outside though. My RH is actually 17% in one room, and 18% in another right now. I'm sure they would like a little more sometimes and would probably grow a little faster, but I can get away with it. So yes, it can be done, but it depends on your conditions.

I guess that your location would make a big difference... For me being in Michigan I need a dehumidifer through the summer and a humidifier through the winter but if its that dry there year round you could probably use a humidifier but not bother with the dehumidifier

well if i do end up needing to use a humidifier i have a cheap USB bottle cap Humidifier plus a humidity controller with probe for humidifier

I just threw my dehum in and its doing a good job at keeping my temps up and keeping my Rh up. Its keeping my room at 60%Rh with temps being between 78-81 which I think is ideal for vegging plants

You need a humidifier.. I'm in the desert and your numbers sound like mine. Trying to Veg that dry is asking for issues. It's easy enough to do it right.

I grow in a spare bathroom and run two humidifiers to get those numbers.

Okay well once I get the grow tent all set up I will check the humidity again from inside the tent if it needs to go up more I will put my humidifier in the tent and set the humidity controller to do its job

im controlling them with a inkbird ITC-608T I just keep my tent closed up and I just run the extractor fan when its 84f or higher then it pulls the air out of the room its in and it just evens out with the room the tent is in usually I run the extract fan to 76f then let it go up etc always 55rh+ rn

Most people put the dehumidifier outside the tent and pull the fresh air for ventilating the tent from that room.

The inkbird controller is a winner, it can control both a humidifier and dehumidifier at once, with a user defined dead band. You do need to make sure the devices plugged in will "auto restart after outage".
