Humidity dome for germing yea or nae?

It is ok to use one until the seed pops the surface. After the sprout is up you are more likely to "dampen off" if you leave the dome.

I use a dome or just lay a baggie over the small pots I germ my seeds in to keep the top of the soil moist but as soon as they pop up the plastic comes off.
I also have a pill jar lined with 150grit sandpaper that I shake the seeds around in for 2min before planting them directly into my grow medium. I just use ProMix in small 9 - hole seed starter pots that come with those little greenhouse kits.
Don't use extra heat either to prevent damping off, Room temp is fine for sprouting seeds.

Cheers guys. Growweedeasy says do not use a humidity dome and i get the impression they are fairly reliable.
What is the dome supposed to achieve? Why is having high ambient humidity a good thing when the seed is encased in a moist environment (in rw or rr)?
So far ive had 2 failures in rockwool in dome on windsill (room temperature). Thought it might have been a bit cold so 3rd went in RR under cfls in dome to raise the temperature but it got up to 100° so maybe this one is cooked.
Or - it could be the Nirvana seeds are shite, plenty of other people reporting 0% success germing their seeds.

Just consider why you are really using a Humidity Dome and the answer would really come down to your room environment.
- Low Humidity? Use a Dome or Plastic Wrap/Bag/Cover.
- High Humidity? Maybe not necessary.

100F won't fry a seed. Should make it sprout and then it can fry. 
I'd could be the rockwool if it's too alkaline. Did you rinse it with pHed water first? Tried that stuff 15 years ago and didn't work for me.
I've never really heard about people having problems with Nirvana but a bad batch of seeds is possible.
